In all honesty, I'll be surprised if Peterson lasts more than 8 weeks this season and 3 seasons in the league.

I agree with Libertine. And with Chester Taylor there - even if he doesn't hurt his colar bone again at the first practice - he will still always split.

That's why I like lynch - he's got a situation where he should get a great opportunty to start and play a lot in a running system.

You don't keep Peterson off the field for Chester Taylor.

I disagree. They didn't give Taylor that contract to sit. He was a work-horse for them last year. Peterson might be good in the NFL, but to many RBs have come in and sucked! Look back at Ki-Jana Cater, Rashaan Salaam, Tim Biakabutuka, Blair Thomas, Lawrence Phillips, to name a few.

RBs normally do not have much success early. Adadi was an exeption, but put any big back behind that line with Peyton and they would be good for over a 1,000 yards.

I covered both Addai and Peterson games in high school and college. And Peterson is a whole other level. He sits behind no one. The Texans just spent way too much on Ahman Green and he would've been on the bench of Peterson would've fallen to 10 int he draft.

Come on Sly. He's not good enough to get playig time in front of Green? Give him a week, he'll be hurt:)

I think he could be good, but could be and will be this season are two different things.

You guys should have grabed Brady - You could have changed your name to The Dallas Crotch Grabbing Cowboys. But I guess you are in Houston, so Texans already works for that. :)

Mark my words. Peterson will not only be a great NFL running back but he could very well be the best of this era if he stays healthy. He played the last two years behind a swiss cheese line at OU.

As for the Texans referense ...

Based on his history, that's a big 'if'. I'm not arguing Proto's point b/c he lost me at Chester Taylor but AP has showed thus far that he's only spectacular for 8 games a season. BTW, Proto, none of those backs you listed actually "sucked". All of them, with the exception of Phillips, came into the league and showed a lot of promise only to have their careers derailed by injuries. Phillips, on the other hand, stayed healthy and was an offensive weapon for several teams, none of whom could screw his head on straight.

Also, for what it's worth, Ahman Green is D-O-N-E. Him going to the Texans is like Emmitt or Edge James going to the Cardinals, only without the Hall of Fame waiting at the other end.

Come on Libertine. Don't feel ashamed to agree with me:)

Chester Taylor is not bad - he's not great, but he has some experience and he is a bruser.

I would argue the point on the running backs. Give me some stats to build your case. 1,000 yards between them all?:)

No, he's not bad. He's just anywhere the caliber of athlete that Peterson is.

Nah, too much work. I'll have to go off of memory. Carter and Salaam both started the season openers for their teams as rookies but neither made it past Week 7(?) before the injury bug bit them. Biakabatuka was hampered his first two years and then was having a Pro Bowl-caliber season for Carolina in his 3rd year before blowing out his ACL.

While I don't think Peterson will be a LT type back (not many are) but he will certaintly be a top-10 back for years. Ignoring my obvious bias to the Redskins, I think Peterson has a stronger/more powerful Clinton Portis in him. That's scary for the league.

It's nice to get some support from the lone star state!!! I say we get back on the orginial topic and that is how great Brady Quinn is going to be and how the Browns will have a better record than the Steelers this year!!!! Smoothie says I am smoking and drinking again at work in 3...2...1

Ki-Jana Carter blew out his ACL on the very first carry of his very first pre-season game. He was never the same.

GMTM, now you are being just ridiculous. even with their improvements, the browns are still the worst team in the division. cincy is clearly the best, and right now pittsburgh is third. you also said the same crap last year about the browns being better than the steelers and once again, you got taken behind the woodshed.

I'm sorry but, sexuality or mere flamboyant streak aside, Quinn is vastly overrated. When I've watched Notre Dame the last few years, I'm far more impressed by Jeff Samardzija than I am by the guy throwing to him. This was not a good draft for QB's and Quinn benefitted in the down year by being a slightly better than mediocre prospect at the most important position on the field.

I agree with Libertine. GMTM, Quinn is probably the most overrated QB in the last 20 years. Right up there with Ryan Leaf.

He could carry a clipboard for my team! He would be third string at Liberty! He probaly would be 2nd string for Averett!

OK - now I'm just joking around, but I still thnk he is really overrated.

heck yeah he is overrated. i would stick with chuck frye. the browns need a solid O-line, and they started to address this with the draft. you should read and listen more GMTM instead of running your piehole :D

That's the other thing. Smoothie is right b/c Frye is the real deal. Give that guy an O-line, a running game and anybody to throw to and they'll be hard to stop.
