If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

Hey, we got good results, we're moving on (yay), but our play for two of the three games was awful. We can't hold the ball. We have so much difficulty getting the ball back in the forward 2/3s of the field, and basically play containment in the back 1/3. That's an improvement? Over what? Playing sloppy-yet-advancing is not a skillful or tactical success, it's typical American soccer.

Group B: Netherlands, Spain, Chile
Group D: Uruguay, Italy, England

These groups were better than ours. The mistake people make in declaring our group the best is assuming the US is one of the top tier teams. We're not. If we're even the third-best team in our own group (which is questionable), those six teams above are all better than the US. They're all better than Ghana (England, eh, maybe). Ghana's getting too much credit, just because we have a hard time beating them.

Wow, the armchair 10-shirts are out in force! Considering the results, I honestly see no justification for all the negativity. It's really stretching to make a point IMHO to say the score was only close against Germany because they essentially mailed it in. Some of you sound almost like the Brazil fans who griped when they won their last cup because they were not playing the "beautiful game". Where we are now is as good as we could have possibly hoped to be at this point. We have a winnable game against Belgium, and if we can take that one, I don't see how anyone can say this cup was not a success.

I thought there were 4 teams in every group. Yeah, there are. The consensus that our group was the toughest was based on the presence of the best team in the world and the feeling that any of the 4 teams were capable of advancing.

There's no way that group D should be considered better than Group G. England and Uruguay are two of the most consistently overrated teams in the World Cup. England is historically overrated; while the US has consistently underachieved, but the English believe (and tell everyone else) that they are equal to Brazil, France, Italy, Germany, etc. Uruguay had to beat Jordan for the final qualifying spot in this years World Cup (their 4th consecutive playoff appearance). Group B is closer, but Group G is still tougher.

If you're disappointed by these comments then how are you a fan of hers?? Her comments are pretty typical from her.

This is the first time I've really disagreed with her comments on a topic. That said I dont place her on some high pedestal where because I disagree with her this time somehow my faith is shattered and I have lost all hope or some such nonsense

That sounds like it belongs on Tim Hawkin's list of Christian cuss words.

Mexico falls to the oranje 2-1 as they give up a pair of goals late including the game winner in stoppage time. Netherlands plays the winner of Costa Rica and Greece in the quarterfinals

El choke-o

Honestly, the perfect scenario would have had them going through to meet us in the semi-finals. Going all 'dos a cero' on them in that situation would have been really fun.

I know...

You had to think with as many corners as the Dutch got in that second half that they were going to put at least 1 in...I think Mexico got what...5 shots total the last 25 minutes?

I would've walked around my house chanting dos a cero for three days if that happened.

Mexico got jobbed with that penalty. I was amazed that it was called. Robben is a known flopper, and the referee seemed to know that, seeing he didn't get one call his way during this game, even the legit fouls. So why would you blow the whistle that late in the game in that situation?

Colombia is the team nobody talks about, but James has been on fire, and they're winning despite not having probably their best player for the tournament. Brazil will have its hands full for the second match in a row.

And the Braziliam team is suddenly missing if that happens. Don y'all think Brazil is expecting a championship, seeing as they're hosting?

Algerian ref will be working tomorrow's US-Bel match. Humm. At least Jozy will be wearing a jersey for it. I expect him to be a late sub if he sees the field at all.
