The locals that have an ax to grind will grind away no matter what. I've talked to a lot of folks that don't have kids in LCA and can wrap their minds around the decision and recognize that it's good for everyone, especially with the eligibility requirements placed on LCA.
Eligibility requirements ? Are they the same or even simialr to Heritage or Glass ?
I think he's referring to what LCA's used to be compared to what they are now. There is still some inequity but it's not as bad as it was . Mostly for transfers
As part of the public high school league they have to abide by transfer rules and other eligibility requirements related to students repeating grades, etc.
There is inequity on both sides. As a parent with kids at LCA, I have less income to spend on camps, lessons for my kids as well because I'm busy paying tuition. If I had my kids in public school, it would be a heck of a lot easier for me as a parent to help facilitate their extracurricular activities.
Then again, there is some inequity when it comes to some public schools vs. other public schools.
I think students will benefit from this from both the public and private side. Years ago when I played football we loved a chance to get to play the private schools, even if they were better than us. It only made us better.
