Nicholls State Search Committee Narrows Down Applicants

THIBODAUX, La. - After receiving over 40 applications for the head coaching vacancy, the search committee has agreed upon 10 finalist and has conducted phone interviews, announced the Nicholls Athletics Department.

"We as the search committee were very pleased with the amount of qualified applicants for the position, and believe that we have narrowed it down to the best 10 candidates," said Jason Dagate, search committee chairman. "The process has gone smoothly and we have made a lot of progress, and we are excited about the number of great candidates for the position."

The 10 finalist picked by the committee are as follows in alphabetical order.

Jeremy `Bo' Atterberry
- Head Football Coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville

William Hickson
- Assistant Football Coach at Liberty University

Hud Jackson
- Assistant Head Football Coach at University of Central Arkansas

Kent Keith
- Interim Head Football Coach at Nicholls State University

Jay Mills
- Head Football Coach at Charleston Southern University

Frank Monica
- Head Football Coach/Defensive Coordinator at St. Charles Catholic High School

Tim Rebowe
- Assistant Football Coach at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette

James Spady
- Assistant Football Coach/Offensive Coordinator at Grambling University

Charlie Stubbs
- Assistant Football Coach/Offensive Coordinator at the University of Central Missouri

Charlie Weatherbie
- Former Head Football Coach at the University on Louisiana-Monroe

I'd like to see what he could do at a real school. That man is an offensive genius.

I agree that Mills leaving CSU would be disastrous for the Big South. He is using duct tape and bailing wire to keep them competitive. I doubt many other coaches could pull that off.

All that said, I doubt he is getting serious consideration at Nicholls. That school was loosely the inspiration for Waterboy and they rarely hire coaches who don't have strong Louisiana ties for recruiting purposes. Not many kids on the bayou are impressed by his time spent at Harvard.

This would be a big promotion for either Coach Mills or Coach Hickson.
