I don't know if any of you have seen The Jungle at ECU, but their new baseball stadium is amazing.

Nice pix! I have to admit I was more stricken with the top photo, though. Something like that would really liven up Worthington

Yeah, pretty nice ballpark that looks like many others in CUSA. The architects who came up with that design are making a mint between colleges & minor league clubs building ballparks all across America. Clearlu ECU must've had some rather wealthy alumni step up bigtime.

baseball is ECU's sport. they have always supported it more than any other sport there, and they are always in the NCAA tournament. ECU is a growing campus and their athletic facilities are pretty nice. that baseball park is a real gem.

Incredible Stadium. Yes Bigsmooth that first pic is pretty good. When will we see that at Worhington Stadium?

I think Johnny Hunton would have a heartattack!

That scoreboard alone is 220k-300k geez!

Where's Reddog? He has more perspective on college ballparks than the rest of us including this one.

my guess, is this was a 4-6 million dollar project including, the scoreboard and video board....but it really depends on what was standing before, but my guesses are pretty much based on minor league parks i've seen being built and been involved with

I know we don't have the funds for any major upgrades but we need to paint the wall. Why not sell Ads to businesses to put on the wall? The new AD did mention that one of our needs is a new scoreboard.

Yeah, I'd definitely think that the ECU scoreboard had to be around 300K+....Winthrop's new one was around 200-250K and is similar, but it looks like ECU's might have a few more bells & whistles...

I could've sworn we did have ads on that wall back in the day (80's). Gotta dig around for pix though. What happened there, anyway? Last time I was down it (the wall) did look pretty shabby. I know we had a nice "discussion" on the Firehouse about the condition of the field but no-one ever seemed to have an answer other than lack of funds and groundskeepers.

Just an FYI ... the scoreboard at ECU cost $500K and the stadium renovation was $11m ... The stands and park is very nice but the press box, even though it looks nice from the outside is not put together well ... It looks like it was just slapped together because they ran out of money ... The scoreboard is one of the nicest in the country ... Trust me, the girls are fine, as well ...

Big Smooth - Baseball is one of East Carolina's top sports but football is the king there ... They have been down but with Terry Holland at the helm, they will get better each year and eventually be back where they were before ... That isn't even close the amount they spend on baseball compared to football ... They have had more success in baseball lately, but their money still goes to football ... As far as playing surfaces for the games, Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Nebraska's are about good as they get ...

The nicest parks that I have been to or have seen are Mississippi State's, Auburn, Nebraska and of course, Rosenblatt Stadium ... LSU is old and a dump, Houston's stadium is nice but small, Alabama's is nice but old and Winthrop's is nice but small as well ... Louisville and Cincinnati both built new parks and they are very nice

You are going to find that the best stadiums in the country are in the south and midwest, because that is where baseball is important ... You're biggest crowds are there as well ...

You clearly haven't been to Reckling Park yet, Red Dog. Its my favorite in Texas. And that inclused the sweet one at Baylor and Olsen Field (although those Aggie fans are the best in college baseball --- That's for you Zack).

I've seen it before ... I should have put it on the list but Auburn, Nebraska or Mississippi State are every bit as nice as Reckling ...

The atmosphere at Turchin Stadium (Tulane) is about as good as it gets when you get about 3,800 to 4,000 cajun drunks on top of you at the field ...

Nebraska is kind of unfair since it is a minor league park that the school shares. It is a gorgeous park though.

I can't speak to Mississippi State or Auburn. But 6000 Aggies are even more nuts than drunk Cajuns. But that's just my ever so humble opinion.

Trust me, at least you can understand what the Aggies are saying ... You haven't heard anything until you have heard a cajun, let alone a drunk cajun ... I've been at Mississippi State and other places with a lot more than 6,000 people yelling and it's not even close ... Just take my word for it ... I've been around a lot of college baseball ... It is one of the best if not the best atmosphere's around ...

red dog, with all due respect, i lived in that area for 7 years, and yes football is big at ECU, and yes they have been down since the steve logan era. ECU has been very good in basbeall for years and it is a sport that they feel they are better than the Big Four, and has the best chance of playing and going deep in the postseason. ECU has always felt like they have been the red headed stepchild in north carolina and the eastern part of the state is pirate crazy. im sure when skip holtz finally gets it turned around, pirate nation will fill up dowdy-ficklen again, but baseball is eastern north carolina. facility wise ECU's football support facility is great but their stadium is average. i will agree that terry holland will have things great down there in due time. he is an incredible fundraiser.

I have been involved with ECU for over six years now ... Their baseball is down this year, fifth place in a nine-team conference ... They aren't going deep into the postseason ... A very good nine-team conference but they are not one of the better teams ... They would even tell you that baseball is not as good as they would like ...

You are right, they love baseball in East Carolina and support it but they support football more ... I've been to baseball and football games there and they draw a lot more to football than baseball ... They don't even pack out their own baseabll stadium

Their baseball stadium is very nice but they needed a new one ... The old one was a dump ...

I'm still stuck on 11M....are you serious? I can name a ton of parks that got more for their money then that! I really need to get down there and see this first hand...I dont have much dealings with college baseball stadiums, although I have had to attend seminars for minor league stadiums, with that price I sure hope they got HOK to build it for them, at least then you'll be getting a little more bang for your buck

The newest gem on the ECU campus is Clark-LeClair Stadium, which arguably rates as one of the top collegiate baseball facilities in the nation. With an estimated price tag of $11 million, Clark-LeClair Stadium nearly doubles Harrington Field's capacity of approximately 1,750 (excluding outfield areas).
