I have heard all the excuses from the network Guys and all the expense. But let's be honest, Liberty is located in Virginia and even though South Virginia is not huge Lacrosse country. Virginia as a whole is a very big Lacrosse state with some of the best College and High School Lacrosse not only in America but in the World. In this article you have an advertisement for College Lacrosse on the USL MDIA level broadcast coast to coast via Satlelite and by the Mormons from a place like Utah that is not that big for Lacrosse.
Am I missing something here? Is Utah and the Mormons more advanced then the Baptists in Virginia? It can't be, my whole point without getting too many folks fired up is that We at Liberty as Fans have put so much into Football and Basketball that sports like Hockey and Lacrosse just don't mean as much and with the great talent we are blessed with in both sports you would think we would invest more into gaining the fan base and support for those sports and promote them. It is a sad day when we are being out done by a Cult in Utah. Let the truth reign!
On the Lacrosse side. Some of the Alumni have written me and are really down about the 1-4 start with the Men's season. Listen, The men's team is very young and they have some top recruits coming in along with the possibility of All-American Cory Noseworthy returning next year. Cory has spoken to me several times and is pretty upbeat about returning. I'm not sure if that will happen but if it does along with additional talent out of the Northeast and Middle Atlantic Liberty will dominate in the next season or two and I mean all the way to the National Championship. LU is a gold mine for Lacrosse because of it's location in the Middle Atlantic region of the south and all the talent that comes out of this region. Along with that FCA Lacrosse has really promoted the sport and there are some really great kids coming out of High School in the region that come from the FCA Ministry that have some great testimonies for the Lord.
There is a little competition out there from Schools like Harding University in Arkansas, Dordt College in Iowa Wheaton College, Biola out west and there are several Bible Colleges that play in the midwestern Conferences in the USL MDIA. Along with two NCAA programs at Messiah College and Gordon College. But Liberty is located in Virginia near all the action and in time if the University gets off it's tail and us fans give our support Tom will have a national contender.
It is a Gold Mine and we need to support it. As for Football and Basketball, I love those sports just like everyone else. But I would rather now get excited about Lacrosse and Hockey at LU because there is such a talent base here. In Hockey there is all those Christian Candians. In Lacrosse there is all those kids from the Middle Atlantic States and the Northeast and New England with a couple of Candians and those guys from Canada play Lax too. Also support of both Women's Hockey amd Women's Lacrosse would help solve the Title 9 issue and bring NCAA Hockey and Lacrosse to LU.
Anyway enough of my rantings just thought I would throw that out there. Good luck to LU Lax this weekend against Davidson College.
All the best,
