Greencastle-Antrim's Sarah Gipe will play field hockey at Liberty University

Greencastle, Pa. — Sarah Gipe knows a thing or two about being the centerpiece of an emerging program.

During her four-year varsity field hockey career at Greencastle-Antrim, Gipe acted as the Blue Devils premiere building block, spearheading the transformation of a formally unknown into a perennial contender.

She will now look to do the same at Liberty University.

Gipe signed her official letter of intent to join the NCAA Division I Flames Wednesday afternoon, committing to continue her athletic and academic future at Liberty.

The 2011 Mid-Penn Colonial Division Player of the Year will no doubt be welcomed with open arms upon her arrival in Lynchburg, Va.

“It is a very special environment,” Gipe said of the university. “The team was extremely welcoming when I went on my visit and the coaching staff is incredible. I’m really looking forward to it.”
