Here is the place for all other LU sponsored sports. Come here to post about: Men's/Women's Cross Country, Men's Golf, Men's/Women's Soccer, Men's/Women's Tennis, Men's/Women's Track & Field, Women's Lacrosse, Women's Swimming & Dive, Women's Volleyball
The reason that LU is a championship team is that they know that it takes a TEAM effort to be successful. We saw that last year as new members came in and filled spots that others had filled the previous year. There was no outward moping or grousing about lost play time -- they just worked very hard to help the team to succeed. This tournament, we saw several players who were used to playing all the time share time on the court with newcomers, and they were enthusiastic and helpful to their new teammates. We saw players who have worked very hard over the last couple of years without much play time come in and make the most of their chance to show what they have during the play of the game. They gave every ounce of effort as a team to ensure our success on the floor. I was amazed at the level of effort and the excited attitude they displayed even when the chips were down. They exhibited the ability to come back from setbacks and press forward with victory in mind.
Props to ATrain and SportsCritic for making the journey to support the girls. You guys are true fans.
I am finally back in San Diego and have a few comments about the VCU Tournament. It was good to see some of the fans on this board at the games. A-Train and SportsCritic, it was great visiting with both of you. From watching all three matches, a few things were obvious. First, in my humble opinion, the team looked very sharp this early in the season . Second, the defense did not let many balls hit the court. The girls were on fire on defense. Lastly, team chemistry. You could see it from the stands. It is alive and well on this team. A parent from one of the teams we defeated also commented on the team chemistry. That says alot when a person not associated with our team notices it and then makes a comment about it. It was a special weekend for the entire team when you see the girls smiling and enjoying the game and Coach Pinder was doing the same!
I wish all of you could have been there to see it, but I have a feeling this is just the beginning of great things to come.
It was great seeing y'all there...I feel bad for being able to stay for only one match, but it was against the team that was toughest (Central Michigan) and it was good to see us get a win over a MAC team.
great seeing everyone at VCU this past weekend atrain, vadim and chopertony. I got to meet some of the team's parents as well. Good times! I agree with chopertony about the chemistry. it is great especially this early in the season. it seems like it carried over from last season which is great! Glad we beat Maryland and a great Central Michigan team too. The best is yet to come i believe for this season.
