ATHENS — Men’s soccer lives again at Concord University.
Five years after the program was dismantled because of a budget cut, coach Steve Barrett has finished a week of preseason practice with a new crew.
Today the team is scheduled to take the field for a scrimmage in Lynchburg, Va., against Division I Liberty University.Click Here for Full Story
Barrett said, “We’ll see what we’ve got, where we’re at. The kids are excited. They’ve worked hard. We’re going to go over there and compete. ... I’m sure there’ll be some things to work on.
“We’ve been together now for a week, and it takes time to mold a team, but the progress that we’ve made this week has been tremendous. We want to keep that going — the learning — and we’ll be fine.”
He said that in the Liberty scrimmage, “We’ll get punished for our mistakes, and be rewarded for our good play.”
