Here is why you should go to basketball games...

YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE GAME WITH A GOOD CROWD.

Wether or not we were directly responsible for any or all of these things, I am not sure.

But, that being said, these are some things that happened last night against Niagra that should be pointed out.

1. In the first, they missed about 6 or 7 straight shots with us going (bounce bounce bounce pass shot!)
2. Their point guard was harassed with "Airball" all night after he airballed it. What did he do the rest of the night? Hardly scored, airballed again, and left the game in foul trouble.
3. We chanted for Nicki Skriptko in the free throw challenge (she has good form)
4. We kept our team support up even once they got down in the second half.
5. We let the refs know they have no idea what they were doing.
6. At the end of the game, when it was crunch time, they were looking to kill some time, and ran down the shot clock. We started counting from "5" when the clock showed "8". He shot when we said 1, a horrible off balance shot over a defender. We forced a bad shot, as students.
7. At the end of the game, the coach was so frustrated he got T'd up and have us the game. Did we have something to do with that? Probably.

And, WE WON! We beat a team who made the big dance last year, and is close to being one of the 100 best in the nation. (remember there are over 300 teams, so thats not bad at all, especially when we are often considered in the bottom 100.)

There are plenty of empty seats. And if you have a LibertyOne card, you get in free. So there is not reason to not go. If you are a ladies man, bring your girl and make it a date with dinner/Starbucks before or after or both. If you are a girl, you KNOW you can convince a guy to come just by asking, guys will do anything for a girl. If you have a group of friends, bring them along. It is fun, free, and exciting. This is a rare experience, to get to see FREE DIVISION ONE BASKETBALL! If you went anywhere else you would have to pay to get to see what we see free!

So come out and support the boys and most of all, HAVE FUN!

THIS sounds like the sort of crowd involvement we have talked about on this thread!! It didn't revolve around "You Suck" it took real people and REAL heckling. Very nice job. Obviously, due ot my own schedule my appearances will be rare BUT when I do show up I can't wait to see more of this type of involvement (With the exception of course of #5!)

Well, I personally dont tell the refs they suck.

I often refer them to our refereeing class we offer here at LU, and sometimes explain how a charge is when the defender is set, and the offernder plows through him.

I don't say suck, momma taught me to not use that in public. "Hey ref, check your phone, I think you have some missed calls" is one Jon uses that I like alot, as well. "I'm Blind, I'm Deaf, I wanna be a ref." is also fairly harmless.

I think we need to sing "Three Blind Mice" every once in a while when they make a bad call.

We mainly made fun of the refs for being bald.

We've got a weird way of making fun of coaches who yell a lot. It's hard to describe by typing.

We change up the stuff on defense rotating between bounce bounce pass, defense, and the basic ooh.

We have the You Can't Do That chant.

On turnovers or missed free throws we chant Fun-da-men-tals.

When BJ scores, we all say his name like they Leroy Jenkins video.

When Kyles does something good, we'll do the He's A Walk-On chant.

When Kyle scores, we all say, "Oooooh, man.

On jump balls we just chant Alex's name and point to him.

On substitutions, we go Step Step Step Step SIT DOWN.

All of our stuff is clean, some is creative, some is just annoying. Throughout the game, if someone does something stupid, we'll throw in a different chant. For example, one of their guys screwed up on defense last night and let out a pretty audible S---. The next time he got to the free throw line, just to be annoying, we were going to chant You Need Jesus. He never got to the foul line though. We'll make up nicknames for players (Shrek for Coker, Tube Sock last night, etc) and go with that. It all depends on what's going on.

Nothing hard. Nothing dirty. It sounds alright with 20 of us doing it. If we can get a few hundred doing it, or God forbid maybe even 1000 people participating, it would be awesome.

I meant don't make a group about it, put it in one of the groups already there. I thought by "put it on facebook" you meant make another group. We already have enough groups on there. I was making sure he didn't oversaturate the market if you're going with advertising stuff.

I made sure to IM him right after I posted that. If there's too many groups, people will stop paying attention.

Theres no I in Liberty..... wait

Hey Jon do you think we have met ONE alum over football season or the past year whod help us out with this stuff? Its completely a farfetched idea but Im trying to think of angles we havent pursued yet. For example, that lady who was banging your pole at W+M, I would think there are plenty of people we have met who could help us out.

Another long shot, which ALA has said a couple times. Get McKay's endorsement. Maybe thats not a great idea considering up the chain, but I dont think exausting every possibility is going to hurt us.

You know the angles I'm working now. I want to let those either come to light or hit a road block before I start working on others. We'll get it worked out.

Nothing wrong for making fun of a ref for being bald, overweight, extremely muscular, grabbing their crotch etc. (I will always remember the "Nice COmb Over" line!) HOWEVER, either you aren't paying attention or your instructor for officiating isn't that up on the rules but you do NOT have to be stationary to take a charge. You must be in LEGAL GUARDING POSITION. Big difference. YOu can even flinch or twist to soften the contact. FYI :D
