Since the UNC thread is about getting calls....

The whole tournament has produced its share of calls for the top teams

Georgetown's Jeff Green has had the worst call given to him. His game winner was an obvious travel, and all of ESPN is agreeing..

For your information the ESPN guys were DEAD wrong. Now I am not saying he didn't travel EARLIER when he had the ball (notice the hop on the pivot foot BEFORE he lost control.) But the ESPN chowder heads have their rules ENTIRELY wrong. To put it simply:
Once a player has a pivot foot established they may obviously PIVOT on that foot. They are also permited to LIFT THE PIVOT foot without a violation being called. What they are not allowed to do is return that pivot foot to the ground. If it returns to the groud prior to releasing the ball it is a travel. If they were not allowed to raise their pivot foot everyone would be shooting set shots. (Which, due to SCARs' vertical ability, he has never STOPPED shooting!)

Haize, based on your definition, it was still a traveling violation. In the process of pivoting his foot, he lifted it off the ground and then the foot returned to the ground, then it left the ground again when he took the shot. You've got to love the DVR.

SUM - I have seen the play COUNTLESS times (TY DVR and ESPN) He had multiple pivot feet early on when he had possession. When he picked up his dribble and made his 957 spin moves his pivot foot only left the ground (His right foot was his established pivot foot) and never came down. That is NOT a travel. IF you read my post you will see that I thought he traveled when he first got it, BUT I will say I would not have called it either b/c it made no impact and he did get a little nudge from the defender. Also, there was a "juggle" with the ball after he first received it, so since there was no possession, there was no established pivot foot.
And it isnt MY definition it is THE definition.
