2024 has proven to be quite the year for tropical activity. With Beryl setting all sorts of records as it hammers across the Caribbean, it bring back memories for those of us that have experienced mega-storms. I hope Olldflame is handling the dirty side of this storm well there in the DR. I am looking at potential impacts from this storm next week here in Texas which is a great reminder to have our hurricane preps completed. Do you have everythign ready for storm season?

We have quite a bit of family & friends in South Texas where the storm is predicted to make landfall. But as I have witnessed in my nearly three and half decades here in Texas, once a storm crosses the Yacatan and enters the Bay of Campeche, it can abruptly change directions significantly.

I'm hoping, that after it crosses the Yucatan, it'll curve north and get picked up by a cold front and bring us some much needed rain here in Virginia.

Most importantly, hoping no one else gets hurt or killed, and the damage is minimal from this point going forward.

ICYMI Beryl turned out to be a real nuisance for just a Cat 1 storm. Over a million are still without power here in Greater Houston. None of our properties suffered major damage like many of our next door neighbors suffered. Thank you, Jesus, But we did have a nasty leak in our master bedroom that apparently only appears during hurricanes.

We were blessed to have power as the storm passed allowing me to do an APAC project virtually just hours after the eye passed over my house. Strangely we lost power the next day for six hours. Many of our family and friends across Greater Houston haven't been as fortunate. 3+ days of heat indexes well into the triple digits is brutal without A/C.

We haven't even reached Mid-July and we are having major storms. Usually these don't arrive until Mid-to-Late August. Buckle up, this could get bumpy.
