JAKE DANNA STEVENS / STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER Abington Heights' J.C. Show, right, and Jamie Egan (31) react after defeating Philadelphia Electrical and Technology in overtime at Freedom High School in Bethlehem on Tuesday. The Comets advance to the PIAA Class AAA quarterfinals.
The Division I recruiting process has been a great ride that's taken Abington Heights' two-sport star J.C. Show to many colleges and universities.
The ride to see him play basketball at the next level will be considerably shorter.
The first-team All-State guard made the decision Friday morning to play his college hoops for Bucknell University.
"Bucknell showed me I can still grow in my faith, play a really good level of basketball and get a great, quality education," Show said after verbally committing to the Bison. "And I'll only be an hour and 45 minutes away where people from home can still come watch me play."
After nearly committing to Liberty last weekend, Show met with Bucknell head coach Dave Paulsen.Click Here for Full Story
"Maybe I was number one on their board, but numbers two and three were going to be at a camp there next week," Show explained. "I had to ask myself, 'Which school would I be most disappointed if a kid jumped me while trying I was trying to figure it out?'
"That's when it kind of clicked for me."
One major factor in Show's decision was his strong religious convictions. That's why Liberty University was high on his list, but he also found what he was looking for at Bucknell.
"I was praying about what decision to make," Show said. "There are a couple of guys on team that share the same faith as me. That was important to me because I want to grow in my faith in college. That's where you find out who you are."
