I just read a statement from Liberty saying that students will have to purchase tickets for $5. Does anyone know if this is some NCAA policy? Or is LU really about to destroy all hopes of selling out a home playoff game?

Oh okay, I figured it was probably something like that.

The NCAA requires the teams to charge for all tickets including student tickets, however, the school can subsidize the cost of the tickets. 75% of total ticket proceeds go to the NCAA to pay for playoff expenses including travel expenses for the teams.

I will be happy to pay your $5 if you can't afford it. :D

Yes, I believe this thread and any other discussion in FF has a direct impact on the outcome of the game.

I heard Stony Brook is already selling playoff tickets and already printed out t-shirts.

There we're un-jinxed everybody!

I'm hoping Coach Rocco has some type of BSC Champions/NCAA Playoffs T-shirt on under LU sweatshirt, and after we win Saturday, he can rip it off like Superman or the Incredible Hulk!

ha, appreciate it but I'm fine. I kind of figured this was some NCAA rule or something. I just wanted to make sure that us students weren't getting charged if we didn't have to. Hopefully, everyone will come back a day early from break and not mind paying $5.

Rocco and his wardrobe have backfired in the past. BeatCoastal shirts were a jinx.

Not to play BJ, but why would you think this? LU has more free stuff than most colleges I've seen and the things they do charge you for a greatly subsidized.

I don't think they would and I agree. The benefits here are unlike anywhere else. The reason I posted this was because students paying $5 caught be by surprise.

Coming in for a sec...cj, its always been that way. It was that way when we hosted Big South basketball tournament games, volleyball tournament games, itll probably be that way when we have the Big South baseball tournament here in 2013. CCU is hosting Elon in the first round of the NCAA Men's Soccer tournament tonight and they are charging student tickets for that too. Its not something that just came into play this year and all.

Now back to bed for me.

Thanks for the clarification. This is my first year on campus, so I'm new to all this stuff. I was actually really surprised when I found out that students didn't have to pay for any sporting events.

I think it is covered by the activity fee. Someone with a little more knowledge can confirm/deny that though

The Beej has not paid for a ticket to an athletic event since the start of the Iraq war.

For clarification, that was the first Iraq war.

I have little knowledge. You are correct. You've paid for a ticket to every event, whether you cheered on or spent the day in Oklahoma.
