This is where we will struggle in my opinion. With the exception of Speaks (who i have not seen play) none of these guys can really create their own shots. Most of them are all spot up shooters which hopefully they worked on becoming a little more versatile this year in the offseason.

Okay I will go ahead and start the debate.

Whose the best 2 guard in school history, I say Blair.

Small Forward I say, Gabe Martin, David Dees or personal favorite Darryl Williams.

Dees only played his freshman and sophomore year and never came close to reaching his potential as a player. Physically he had a high major attributes but mentally was weak so I wouldnt even come close to including him in there. What about Anthony Smith?

Gabe Martin played the 4 so it's hard to include him here. I agree with Anthony Smith.

As for the 2, it's either Bailey or LB.

2 guard is Larry Blair..I am also partial because I am friends with the guy but he could just flat out play and didnt let any off court drama with players or the terrible head coaching situation effect him. I do know he has some haters on here though

Personally, I have a hard time saying someone who played 2 years or less for LU is our best ever, which would rule out all 3 BSK named at SF. My vote there goes to Ed Vickers, even though it was at a lower level. There is no doubt in my mind he was D1 caliber player. During the D1 era, I would say Smitty. I would take Baily over LB at the 2.

2 guard is either Bailey Alston or Larry Blair. My choice is Bailey, but you can't go wrong with Larry. Both were extremely talented and found a way to get the ball in the hole.

2 guard is Alston Hands down. He did in 3 years what LB did in 4 statistically speaking. Hess has to be in the discussion even though he was in the PG discussion. Truth is he was a combo guard.

3 - Anthony Smith was the most gifted to me. Daryll Williams was really good too. Jay Boykin would have gone down as the best if not for injuries. As a freshman he shot 75% from 3 and averaged 15 ppg in 15 min per game! We were so talented that we had trouble finding minutes for him but when he came in he was unstoppable. Tore both ACL's in his career including at Christmas time of his Redshirt Freshman year.

Gotta count Gabe as a 3 even though RD had to play him at the 4. He could be considered the best as a 2 time runner up POY in his only 2 seasons as a Flame.

Dees is in the discussion but his transfer diminishes his legacy.

Smitty gets my vote.

I've seen Tavares play btw. He has great pull up jumper, can get to the hoop. Not sure if he is a 3 pt shooter. He should be able to score in the Big South. He might be the 1st JUCO All American 1st team player in the League. I'll have to get someone to check that.

How do you say terrible HC situation... Blair had 3 out 4 years he finished in top 3 in league... 1 championship... Those are facts. Blair aggravated me with his A.I. personality but that guy got buckets!!

IMO Smitty was a phony, talented, late game he would run and hide though. He played with some good guys, got open looks cause other teams worried about Blair or curry or McLean. He shoulda
been better.

There was a lot of drama behind the scenes during Duntons head coaching regime. That certainly has an affect on a player and from the looks of it Larry was able to play through all of that. As for his A.I. personality sure he got some treatment that every star player across the country got but by no means did he abuse that in any sort of way. I do not quite understand the AI personality comment. LB was a gunner thats his game he plays to score and shoot the ball, so if that is what you mean I agree with you 100%

I was pretty sure I knew of a former WU player that was a 1st team JUCO All-American, and I was right...Antwon Harris made the 1st-team back in 2006. He played a pretty big role in two NCAA teams for WU (including the team that beat Notre Dame), though injuries limited him a bit, so we never did see him at 100% in his two years in Rock Hill.
