Our boys had a solid showing up until about the last 8 minutes of the game. Hard to overcome six (that last INT from Brennan was garbage time) turnovers and win.

NC State -- 43
Liberty -- 21

Our defense is very good.

We got aggressive on third down on D which was exciting to see.

We have a phenomenal corp of wide receivers.

Our kicking game is one of the best in the nation.

We still can't run the ball.

Mike has to make better decisions and protect the ball better.

We can beat anyone on our schedule.

Definately closer than the score indicated. Beat ourselves with turnovers and penalties. Defense looked solid all night but did wear down in the last few minutes. I liked what I saw out there and I think that we will be fine.

The secondary is REALLY good.

Ayers is FAST.

D-Line got tired, but looked really good for 3 quarters.

Bevins is better than most FBS kickers.

Hold on to the flippin' ball.

Mike was responsible for what...6 of our turnovers tonight? take away half of those and its probably a different outcome. Some of his throws would make me pull my hair out

Feel good about our season. We SHOULD be able to beat anyone on our schedule. Need to see more discipline from the experienced guys, Brown & Summers (dumb penalty).

When playing FBS level opponents you can't look at the one reciever you are passing to the entire time.
Every pick - he watched the reciever from GO.

I agree that the secondary is very good. Ayres, Aikens, Fogg, Mayo, Lee all played well. On the line I was impressed with Bai and Varol. Sigmon seemed to be in on a lot of tackles.

Happy with the production. I really liked what I saw from the defense in their ability to get after the QB. Mike had a brutal game, our O-line struggled, and the playcalling was by in large predictable save a drive or two.

At the end of the day, it's an ACC* team. We have the potential to beat everyone on the schedule, and we can lose to anyone on the schedule. Let's take the positives and get after it next week.

outplayed NC State frustrating loss

Bad--
Summers--drops quite a few
Brown=-turnovers
OLine--had its moments but killer penalties

good--
everyone else

the questionables, i thought were very great Varol, Bah, Sigmo, and Hyland ,and IF Chapman comesback (unlikely i know) Liberty would have a killer line.

back to Brown the guy needs to stop with the stare downs and locking down on Summers. Don't pick a WR in the huddle, which he looks like he does. Learn to throw the ball away when there is no one open.

TO's :frustrated
Huge losses by two CAA powers to MAC teams; like us, they had lots of turnovers. Unlike us, they couldn't get yards. Nice 50 yard FG in the third. One question- did NC State ever put in their scrubs?
Mike must feel pretty bad right now!

Going into this game, I figured that all NC State had to do was run the ball at us; I wasn't sure that our defensive line would be able to stop them. I officially apologize to our defensive line. We gave up some big plays, but on the whole I was pretty satisfied with the defense. We actually outperformed them offensively 406-318, and Mike Brown averaged 6.8 yards per catch vs. their 4.5. Take out the turnovers and it's a completely different ballgame -- one I think Liberty wins.

Clean up the careless mistakes and play this way, and we'll beat JMU, Lehigh, Robert Morris, and the entire Big South. We have some work to do, but the season looks really good from where I sit.

I agree with this...and have for the past 2 years. I'm not 100% sure he is going to ever learn how to do these things.

Awesome job Defense !!!

[Hard to hold a team when the offensive keeps giving them the ball.]

To be fair with the offense - NC has a tough Defense and great DBs.
I thought the new OL did a great job for game 1.
Need to work on that passing...

I said it in the game thread but he has a fighter pilot mentality when he throws. He finds his target, locks on and fires. He is going to HAVE to learn to progress through his reads and pick his targets or he is not gonna make it this year much less at the next level

We looked good. I am not sure how many, but our defense had several three and outs. That is a great stat against a BCS FBS team. The score does not do us justice. We should have a great year from here on out. 10-1. Playoffs. Third round.

was able to watch the first half on ESPN3 (no stream problems, looked great on my 47" LCD)

Bah/Varol/Sigmon looked great- very very impressed. Haven't seen that kind of pressure on the QB in a couple years - it will decimate the BSOUTH teams we see.

Disappointed in #10... just seemed like he's regressed since last year. Hoping it was just a good D that got in his head.

Thanx to SJ for the updates in the 2nd half- kinda glad I didn't see it. My kids don't need to hear that kinda language from me.

We MUST roll the BSOUTH this year. This team is more than capable. Time to man up.

Was at the game, proud of the guys, played hard. The defense was surprisingly good. MB doesn't usually have a lot of turnovers, he will get it straightened out. Excited about the rest of the season.

You guys played a hard fought game and gave us all we wanted. Not much else to say that hasn't already been mentioned.

Good luck the rest of the way!

Come on, we're not that bad. Coming off a 9 win season...definitely in the top half of the league. But whatever.

I figured AA would give us more production on the ground than SCH, but it seems pretty much everybody other than #10 had problems rushing

on the other hand, from what I saw in the 1st half- our WRs are every bit as good as advertised. Provided the ball gets to them and not the DB

Just though I would drop by now that I'm home, I just wanted to let you guys know you should very proud of your guys. They had nothing to lose and they knew it; your defense looked great on pass plays and some run plays. Your guys knew to put pressure on a who QB who's O-Line has some things to patch up this week. The worst thing for Gelnnon was for Russell Wilson to play Thursday and have so much pressure on him. Mike Brownthrown is a great athlete but he tried to force some throws against a very good defense.; he also took alot of hits tonight. I personally belevive Liberty was the PERFECT team for State to open with. I wish you guys the best on your season and predict that you wont lose another game until the playoffs. As for State I am glad we have Wake next week who lost to a team the other night that is predicted to be in the lower-teer of the Big Least then after that we play South Alabama.
