"The spring went well for me," said David. "I started playing more at safety. I had been playing corner, so it was a good experience playing a new position.

"They are going to play me some at tight end on offense too. I am excited about that and just experiencing some new things."

Several college programs were able to swing through during the spring evaluation period to see Alvarez lining up at his new positions.

"South Carolina, Indiana, Louisville, Liberty and several more schools came," said Alvarez. "I didn't get to see everybody. I was just trying to focus on my game."

A trio of schools have extended scholarship offers with several more showing interest.

"I have offers from Washington State, FIU and FAU," said David. "Liberty and Tennessee-Chattanooga also say they like me a lot."

Alvarez is grateful for the options he has, but he would love to see things pick up with another in state program.

"I really want to go to Florida State," said David. "I just like the program there. I have been following them since I was younger.

"I am working hard and shooting for an offer from them."
