I just wanted to thank the University Administration (JFLJR and the rest), the Athletics Administration (JB and the rest), and all the current coaches for the growth and excitement surrounding Liberty Athletics and the University itself. Since first setting foot on the camput at LU, I've been a huge fan of the University and of the Athletics program. I was there for some really great times and some really bad times and everything in between. I've been at a ton of sporting events over the last almost 25 years.
But, I have to say that right now is an absolute great time for the University and for the Athletic department. Myself, my wife, and my kids do everything we can to support Liberty. We wear LU stuff all over and my car is as close to a LU billboard as it can get. I am so proud of where God has allowed this University to go in such a short amount of time and I will shout it from the mountaintop (just ask my co-workers). My oldest son plans to go to LU in 2 years and he and I can't wait.
Why do I bother to write all of this down and brag? I just think we often forget how young LU really is in terms of most Universities. I think this amnesia applies to Athletics more than anything. Folks want to start an athletic program, and then win a national title immediately. In this uber competetive world, that just doesn't happen. It takes time, and development that doesn't happen quickly weather we try to force it or not. When I hear the plans that are instore, I am blown away, and just can't wait. I believe all of the current folks can take us there with patience and a little time.
I'd like to give my vote of confidence, and say that I can't wait to see where God allows us to go next.
Yep, I'm a homer, but I sure am glad I'm a small part of LU! Go Flames!
