Up 40% over last year, but of course they didn't report the financial numbers here:

And yes, I do take the train about once or twice a year up to Philadelphia. Its cheaper than flying US Airways out of Roanoke or driving to RDU to fly Southwest, and also cheaper than driving.

Has anyone ever taken the train to a Nats or O's game?

Mrs. Cider took it once to NYC to do some shopping/sightseeing with some ladies from our church, and they LOVED it.

It's cheaper than driving, because people like me, who don't use it, are paying for your ticket via government revenue :)

I take this every time I go to DC now. It's as simple as it gets and you can get work done along the way. Then you can Metro anywhere you want Cider so getting to a Nats game would be simple.

Do they have wi-fi on the trains?

I'm seriously considering taking the train to Stony Brook for football in November rather than drive it. Absolute nightmare of a drive last time. I figure I can take the train to Penn Station and rent a car from there to go the rest of the way. Rates are pretty reasonable, too.

It'd be nice, but no. I think Megabus does however.

Amtrak still exists? Glad to see my tax dollars are still being wasted in large quantities for the benefit of you East Coasters. You're welcome.

I don't mind my tax dollars supporting intercity mass transit, but personally I wish they'd get rid of all the environmental impact studies that must be done so high speed rail can be developed faster. There is a reason why Virginia didn't apply for the $2 Billion that Florida rejected...not enough time to do all the ridiculous amounts of studies required to put the infrastructure in place. It's also why Norfolk Southern and CSX are no longer involved in passenger rail.
