No thread on this important ACC game? HMO and others, I believe, are there in person. Right now, it's tied at 42 in the second half, and the game is being televised on channel 424 on Dish Network.

As a UVa alum, I'm oddly pulling for Tech tonight. Maybe it's the orange uniforms. Maybe it's Seth sitting on the Duke bench. I may have never said this before in my life, but "Go Hokies!"

This was the first game that I've watched Duke play where Seth was cheering on the sideline. I guess he still has a grudge towards VT.

He was tied for the smallest player on Dukes team. He looked like me standing in the huddle.

They're coached by a Greenberg. What do you expect?

Singler, Scheyer, & Smith hit all of the shots, except for ONE.

Scheyer - 40 min, 4-19 FG, 3-11 3FG, 4-5 FT, 15 Pts
Singler - 40 min, 7-15 FG, 4-9 3FG, 7-7 FT, 25 Pts
Smith - 39 min, 6-17 FG, 3-6 3FG, 8-11 FT, 23 Pts

Rest of team - 81 min, 1-11 FG, 0-4 3FG, 2-3 FT, 4 Pts

Sadly, dook is the only hope for the ACC to field a Final Four team this year. It just ain't going to happen. It really is a bad year for the ACC.

This is the year for a team like Butler, Gonzaga or Northern Iowa to break thru and make some noise in the tournament. It's a down year for many powerhouses, and this might be the chance to see a mid major playing on the last weekend of the season with a legit shot at a title.

If the ACC is down, the Pac-10 is in the sub-basement. There is a very good chance they will not have an at-large team this year. Cal is the only team that might be good enough, but of course that only happens if someone else wins their tourney.

Arizona State could take over the Pac-10 lead...if Cal loses to ASU, that may damage their at-large chances should ASU (or another team) win that tourney.

The ACC is definitely down. I see Duke, WF, and possibly VT and Maryland getting in. SEC has Tennessee, Kentucky, Vandy and Florida's looked good at times, but other than that I haven't been impressed.

I look for Butler, Siena or a CAA team to make a run in the tourney this year. Speaking of the CAA, Northeastern and George Mason basically blew any glimmer of hope at an at-large with home losses to Louisiana Tech and College of Charleston, respectively.

Call me an elitist (do it, do it!), but there are some really good teams at the top this year, and there is still a large gap between the bigs and the rest. I don't see any more noise than usual, other than there may be more sub teams in the tournament than normal.

I guess I just don't see anyone but Kentucky and Kansas being THAT MUCH better than Gonzaga and Butler. That's why I feel like they can make some noise.

They're my favorite to win this year... Wall and Patterson is probably the best one-two punch in the nation...

Patterson isn't even part of Kentucky's one-two any more. That would be Cousins and Wall. He's a pretty darn good number 3 though!

The A-10 is a solid conference this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see them get 3, maybe even 4, teams in- Richmond, Xavier, Charlotte, Temple

Dayton may still be in the mix as well. The A-10, before the Missouri Valley's rise in the mid-to-late 2000's, typically grabbed about 3-4 bids, with St. Joe's actually being a #1 seed in 2004.

that St. Joe's team was perhaps the greatest team the A-10 has ever seen.... should have won a national championship with that team IMO

Yes, and lucky us got to play them in the first round of the NCAAs. I still think we would have given them a decent game with a healthy Mantlo.

I agree completely, we did outscore them in the 2nd half

Best 2 players I've ever seen on one team in college (in person) West/Nelson. Nelson was so quick he could create a shot at any moment he wanted.

Nelson is also one powerful little guy, which hurt us almost as much as his quickness.

Nelson was one of the best college players period... unfortunately the NBA hasnt been the greatest for him (hes been good, but not like his St. Joe's days)

That's 5 NBAers and a MONEY college college player that won the championship that year.
