I heard this on Mike and Mike this morning and they said the most represented college in the NBA is Duke, second is Uconn and the school that's earning the most money again is Duke. That took me off guard....I wasnt expecting that. Dont worry UNC fans I believe you're in 3rd

Last year, it was UCLA. And you'd figure UNC would be up there.

That is factually incorrect
Most NBA Draft Choices since 1989
1. Arizona 31
2. Duke 29
3. UCLA 28
4. North Carolina 25
5. Connecticut 23
6. Kansas 22
http://www.arizonawildcats.com/sports/m ... 09aad.html
Most picks all-time
1. UCLA 95
2. North Carolina 92
3. Kentucky 73
4. Duke 66
5. Kansas 62

Most picks in the top 2 rounds
1. UCLA 47
2. North Carolina 46
3. Duke 39

Most picks during the 1970s
1. UCLA 14
N/A Duke

Most picks during the 1980s
1. Indiana 12
N/A Duke

Most picks during the 1990s
1. Arizona 15
2. Duke 15

Most picks during the 2000s
1. UCLA 13
2. Duke 12
http://statsheet.com/mcb/drafts/report_team_picks Doesn't include 2009 picks, but the top 5 overall wouldn't have any changes other than total numbers and UCLA would still be on top for most picks during the 2000s.

Are you dumb or just plain stupid?

They were talking about currently, as in playing right now.

Most represented in the nba stupid. Is every player drafted since 1989 still playing? Does every player drafted get signed?

Doesn't matter when you are a college coach out recruiting and you can say to a recruit have had X players drafted and your school has produced X nba draftees. Kids who go to schools like UNC want to be able to play in the NBA, so just having that close of a chance at getting into the NBA is pretty important.

Ok, but what does that have to do with Duke being the most represented college in the NBA last year? That's what this thread is about (and I can't stand Duke, so I have no agenda by saying this).

One hundred and seventeen Division I colleges are currently represented in the NBA by their former players.

Thirty-seven of these schools have three or more players in the NBA.

In order to be eligible to represent their alma mater in the NBA, each player had to score over 100 points in 2007-08 and be on the current active roster for their 2008-09 NBA team. All rookies from the 2008 NBA draft had to make their NBA team's roster in order to be considered.

It is a common misconception that Duke is not well represented in the NBA. However, Duke is represented by 10 players—second to UCLA's 12—who have met all requirements for this list.

I was looking at the list of Tar Heels and noticed Shammond Williams and Reyshawn Terry. Shammond hasn't played in the NBA since 2006-07 and Reyshawn never made an NBA roster. I didn't even go through the other teams on the list.

I can believe that. I was just going based on numbers, not salaries. But it's impossible to know salaries right now cuz some of those guys are free agents or haven't signed their rookie contracts.

You sure they're not just "Adam Morrison" on the end of the bench that never even suits up, much less plays?

I'm asking honestly, cuz I don't know...

Edit: Yeah, I guess you're right... so maybe those lists are just dumb.

Mike and Mike said it was based on the players that played at least one game in the 08-09 season. I can't vouch for the accuracy, but that's all they were saying.

Also, Marcus Williams is lazy and is out of the league.

I bet Mike and Mike took last years active rosters and added to it the players that just got drafted. But that is a dumb way to come up with a list because the rookies aren't active yet, and by the time they are some other players will be cut/retired

Lets not be too hard on Shuk, he did go to LC afterall, so obviously the education he earned with that academic reputation that is so well-known beyond the James River makes his knowledge superior to ours.

They counted the number of guys from each school that played at least in one game in 08-09..
