This is specifically about Jerry Jr and dismissing it because there are more important things to discuss doesn't make this discussion any less valid.
Jr's tweet was thought provoking. Made me think about my last post. Exactly what he intended. Make people think.
When’s the last time you voluntarily read a book that didn’t have pictures?

You said that some here were stupid or delusional- How about this for stupid: retweeting your own think tank's posting of your own commentary.
He's trying to wake up minorities that are being fooled by white liberals. The govonor is a fraud. You're to big a Jerry hater to think past it.

And it was stupid or disingenuous. And I don't think anyone here is stupid.
So instead they should vote for Republican politicians that are supported by whites supremacists?

Glad I didn't make this post. Board mods would have booted me for disrespecting you like that. Interesting way to act when someone sees it differently than you.

You are right. IMO their actions are being taken out of context and way overblown. I find it interesting more people are upset about the image than who is in the imagine. You see a lot of people defending Northam who don’t even realize he’s in the picture.
I like their food and hope they weather the storm. I’ll probably stop by there this week to pick some up
The only thing I think they do well are those darn hush puppies- they were a great complement to Doug's brews. PH, I almost posted in support of Apocalypse, but as you pointed out, the business person must be careful. Lastly, people don't think about the past as much as we'd think; it wasn't long ago that Republicans supported Strom, who had committed much more egregious acts in the past than had Ralph.

I am not a fan of the hush puppies, I prefer mine sweet as opposed to spicy. LOVED the Hogtown burger and never ate there without an order of onion rings with Federal sauce!

I'm sorry, but what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? He's not willing to apologize because he is above apologizing for anything but would rather pass the blame on to anyone else. Notice he didn't deny being in the wrong but used Gov. reducing/ending VTAG (not sure on the details on that) as his justification to stir the pot. Grow up.

I'm glad the state ended the support of LU. Maybe Jerry needs to put on his big boy pants and build an institution that doesn't see its only funding from student debt. I've told you guys for a while that the gravy train isn't as solid as many think it is; just wait until the public systems perfect their online delivery.

He must have hired one of Trumps Twitter writers. Ending with “Sad” is classic Trump

So Govonor puts personal politics in front of those that voted for him.
TH, that really weak deduction is only made more absurd by your poor spelling. Did you ever think about the other 73% that was losing funding? The loss of VTAG grants affects all students. If you need a primer on how all this works, just let me know.

They must not like money very much. I’ve read quite a few of their employees have already quit over this as well.
Such a dumb move on Fifth & Federal's part. Why anyone would tweet something like that from their business's Twitter account is beyond me, especially as things are starting to open back up.

And then these idiots stroked the flames even more by putting out a truck that said police lives matters right at their store when the protestors were there or were going to be there.

It's like they pulled out the "what not to do during racial civil unrest" handbook and was like "oh that sounds like a good idea, let's do it!"

It's their right to do it of course, I'm not going to argue otherwise. But sometimes exercising your right to free speech isn't worth the consequences. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes as the saying goes.

And here’s the thing, Fifth and Federal didn’t indicate they wanted to listen to the voices in the community that were hurt, until today, after their windows were smashed.

They responded to peaceful BLM protests by backing up the Cops Lives Matter truck and bringing in a bunch of militia members and posting a tone deaf excuse for their Twitter comment.

I know several folks who were at the peaceful protest and who were hurt by Fifth and Federal’s post. They aren’t all lefty liberals. A lot of them are conservatives. Matters of race and racism shouldn’t be political but for some reason it’s been co opted by parties. Free thinking people look at human empathy instead of what a party or political side says they should think.

Voluntary curfew. Mayor Tweedy said it would not become mandatory unless further violence occurs.

African American Alumni Call on Jerry Falwell Jr. to Step Down

Christianity Today wrote:Nearly three dozen black alumni of Liberty University denounced school President Jerry Falwell Jr. on Monday, suggesting he step down after he mocked Virginia’s mask-wearing requirement by invoking the blackface scandal that engulfed the state’s governor last year.

In a letter to Falwell, 35 faith leaders and former student-athletes told Falwell that his past comments “have repeatedly violated and misrepresented” Christian principles. They said they would stop urging students to attend Liberty, would no longer donate to the university, and would urge fellow people of faith to avoid speaking at the school unless Falwell changes his behavior or steps aside.

“You have belittled staff, students and parents, you have defended inappropriate behaviors of politicians, encouraged violence, and disrespected people of other faiths,” they wrote, advising Falwell that “your heart is in politics more than Christian academia or ministry.”

I miss Jerry Sr who could at least admit he was wrong
Falwell told CNN: "I would never blame any human being except the terrorists, and if I left that impression with gays or lesbians or anyone else, I apologize."
https://www.cnn.com/2001/US/09/14/Falwell.apology/
"In the midst of the shock and mourning of a dark week for America, I made a statement that I should not have made and which I sincerely regret," Falwell said.

He added: "I want to apologize to every American, including those I named."
