In all honesty, it looks like the Big XII is going to be held together with bailing wire. And to assure that the league survives the next wave, they are discussing the possibility of having each member team give the league their 1st & 2nd tier broadcast rights for like 5-6 years. That way no other conference would want any of the teams without the rights (similar to ACC's $20M protection). It is an interesting concept but I'm not sure everyone is willing to get on board. For the record, the Longhorn Network is a 3rd Tier deal which wouldn't be directly affected.
As part of its desperation, UT is now relenting on the possibility of TCU coming back into the fold. They could ultimately wind up being Team #10 or could be part of a new 12-team lineup.
If Mizzou does rebuff the SEC, it gets real interesting figuring out who #14 might ultimately be. With Big XII & ACC eliminated as potential targets, the remaining Big East schools and the service academies come back into play.
You get the feeling that the SEC might be feeling a little disappointed in how this has all gone down. While they captured a prize in Texas, they haven't exactly managed the residuals from that decision well.
