How can you say Kobe doesn't show up when it matters most? Have you followed his whole career? He averaged 30 points a game this entire postseason, 25 points a game in the regular season for 12 years now and 24 points a game in 11 trips to the postseason. Those are top 10 all-time numbers, I don't care who you are.

Kobe has only had one playoff run without Shaw in town. Face it, Shaq carried Kobe's butt for virtually his entire career. Looks what happens when Shaw leaves, the Lakers suck and Kobe becomes one of the most selfish players in the league. How many deep playoff runs has Kobe had without Shaq? One. That's not top ten material.

That's also your opinion which I have a hard time placing much value on when you keep referring to some guy named Shaw. Plus, it wasn't just Shaq (notice his name isn't Shaw) that made those Lakers teams great. There was a great supporting cast on those teams. Guys like Robert Horry, Derek Fisher, Brian Shaw and Rick Fox to name a few, all played important roles. When Shaq left the supporting casts Kobe had to work with weren't nearly as good. Tyrone Lue and Kwame Brown don't exactly count as talent to work with. So sure, try and heap all the Lakers struggles after Shaq left on Kobe because you don't like the guy, but in case you haven't notice basketball is a team game, and even a guy as talented as Kobe can't do it all by himself. This isn't about whether you like Kobe as a person, this is about his talent and abilities on the court.

I agree - Kobe would make my top ten list if i was just picking players, but I stuck to the stats on this one. He is a great player - bar none the best player in the league right now and probably since Jordan retired.
