I understand emotional, thats fine, and when you get fouled hard i have no problem being mad about it... The problem was he was jawing ALL game and was playing dirty ALL game. Now just like SJ said he might be a great guy I dont know him, and i never questioned how hard he works. His Style of play is dirty (from what I saw) and I think hes a punk for it.
Secondly, Smithson does get emotional and i saw that a little yesterday, but there is a line in being emotional and a jerk. After the game smithson came out to do the radio show and walked right in front of us and I told him good game and he looked up at us and was just in shock and said, "Thanks guys, I appreciate that". So i thought he was a nice guy.
And Yes its nice to see Kenny on the floor and I realize that he gets laughed at most places... Maybe thats why the referees let him get away with cheating. Maybe thats why they let him use his knee to push our guys out of the post. Maybe thats why when he posts our guys up we get called for a foul. Maybe thats why he can hook our guys and get away with it. Maybe thats why he can camp in the paint for an hour and never get called. Maybe thats why he can goaltend and get away with it. Maybe thats why he can come over our guys backs EVERY SINGLE play down the floor... I guess they just feel sorry for him and I guess thats why they let KJ push BJ out of bounds and not call it, because he plays with this guy and they give them charity I dont know...

Been noticing a lot of talk about Garland. KJ is actually probably one of the nicest people on UNCA's team. Good person, and absolutely one of the hardest working guys (Smithson, Garland, and John Williams are the three guys that are always in the weight room and/or always shooting around in one of the gym's @ athletic facility). KJ does jaw a little bit and is a very emotional player, I can't argue with that. There were several times last year when he received hard fouls and reacted by getting up in an opponents face -- smithson can get emotional too. Part of that is natural reaction but seeing those guys play everyday (and yes I'm biased) both are great guys that play the game hard and play the right way.
As for Smithson player of the year. Not sure I'm knowledgeable enough about basketball to make a good argument either way. I think he might be the most athletic and talented player in the league. He 'won' the UNCA dunk contest last year -- which is quite remarkable for a guy that's not much taller then 6'. He's probably the fastest player in the league and his play against UNC-CH the last two years has been dazzling. He's also getting some interest from NBA-scouts. Is he the best and most polished player in the league? I don't know. He's arguably the most exciting, for sure the most athletic, and his athleticism makes him almost impossible to just 'shut-out'.
As for Kenny George -- from my perspective I'm just happy the kid is on the floor. Gone through a lot the last few years (injuries etc.) and he also has to deal with a lot off the floor because of his size. Its not easy being pointed and laughed at everywhere you go but he's a good guy and despite his shyness deals with it well. Its good to see him starting to develop as a player and have some success on the court.
LU team looks good... Going to be an interesting year in the Big South... I don't really know that you can pick a favorite at this point -- gonna be a tough road for whoever wins it.
