My sister is slowly returning to normal but she has been moved from the intensive care unit to a behavioral medicine ward where she can get needed psychiatric help but also still get help with her medical issues. Continue praying for her but also pray that she will come to a point where she can get herself back in line spiritually because I feel in my spirit that over the last few years she has moved away from God.

Quick update on my sister. She is back to normal and could be out of the hospital Monday. She is working with a psychiatrist she really likes and he really seems tuned in to what her problems are. As it turns out, it seems this attempt was made out of anger and she thought a good way to lash out in light of the issues she has had was through the overdose. A big problem is the fact that when she went into her coma her short tem memory pretty much went away so she does not remember why she even ended up in the hospital or even that she had wanted to commit suicide. This could be an issue in getting to the heart of a lot of her issues but at least there is something to work from.

The big thing to pray for beyond the psychological issues is her spiritual condition. I really in my spirit feel like she has fallen away from God in the last few years and I really hope that she can get to the point of recommitting her life to Him.

You seem like you are handling this with a lot of class. I'm certain it can be draining though.

It is...its tough for the most part because I cant be at home to support the family and be of help. One thing that my mom told me once that encourages me a lot is when she said that I provide a sense of balance to the house when Im there (with my older sister now living on her own that probably is even more important).

SO my sister is still in the hospital. SHe is having issues with her kidneys because she has been dehydrated and dealing with nausea as well. She also is having some behavioral problems too so she wont get out this week. All this stuff is very trying on me as I am here in Lynchburg away from the family.

Update on my sister...I talked to my mom this morning and she was discharged from the intensive care unit yesterday. Her kidneys are about back to normal as well. Lift up my parents because this whole process has drained them very heavily. My dad, who is a doctor, was "on call" this weekend and he got very little rest the whole weekend with his rounds and taking care of my sister and working with her doctors. He is fighting a cold himself right now so pray that he gets much needed rest, and that my sister continues to recover.
