I make no apologies either (although I never called you an idiot). London is working with Groh's recruits in large part. The question I still have is how good of a coach can he be when he is working with his own players (which is probably another two or three years down the road)

Point of order: Mike London may be a great coach and you can base that on what he did with this years team. Case in point, scrapping the 2 QB system he started with. Not a lot of coaches would do that.
Now if he can win with "his players" will show whether or not he is a good or great recruiter. In college sports the two can be mutually exclusive.

What do we know about Coach London? He can coach up a team with other coaches' players. What is yet to know about him is if he can do the same with his own kids. We don't have to look far for a good comparison - Coach Rocco.

What did I say that was wrong? He's never been a head coach at any one place longer than 2 years.

Manson's right. He was at Richmond for two years (won a national championship with Clawson's players), left there and he is finishing his second season at UVA and is playing for a spot in the ACC championship game this weekend (with Groh's players). your seemingly myopic view on Coach London (as good as he is) is mind boggling.

bock make it easy on yourself bro. As i said in another thread. Not a person ever said London wouldn't be a good coach. Even if uva beats tech and wins the ACC championship and wins a bowl it doesn't mean he's a great coach. He has to build to the program to prominence over time to be great. Also, UVA's schedule was incredibly weak (i'm a uva fan, liberty 1st of course but uva was my team growing up so i follow closely). As far as coaching Al's players, that is impressive because Al left the cubbard bare. London has proven he can recruit and he's begun to show he can coach. You just can't make an emphatic statement at week 6 of a man's 2nd year when he went 4-8 in year 1 and was 4-3 at the time because he's not proven great yet. I like the track he's on much better than i did a few weeks ago, but i still have issues. The biggest is that he even decided to play 2 QB's this year, that was idiotic and probably cost uva atleast 1 win if not 2. Everyone makes mistakes but it's just too early to annoint him great. Al had UVA up to number 6 in the nation back in 2005, how great was he?

haize, i disagree. He has always made big time leaps in recruiting the current freshman class and the commitments he has for this year. He caused Tech to reshuffle their entire recruiting spread after he ripped up the tidewater, especially landing all 4 of Norfolk Christians players. I think his coaching is stillt he weak link as i stated earlier, but he has time to fix that. Especially if he keeps landing better talent. Talent makes you look good even if you have some insufficiences.

I was reacting to those of you who said he was working with groh's recruits. And groh was a terrible coach, so clearly london is turning gold out of a pile of... well yeah.

JINXY. I don't have a dog in this fight. I was just pointing out that in college there is often a difference between a good coach and a good recruiter.

you said he was great which is so crazy talk. 10 years from now you may be able to come back and brag about being right, but not 4 weeks later. Come on man, greatness takes time. 2 or 3 good years doesn't make you great.

Of course Five Iron was only a band for about 8 years af Five Iron and they were great from day 1 so there are exceptions to every rule. And that is it. :)
