Yeah, but now because of that one post it's going to convince one guy at Liberty to start telling everyone it's happening and then they're going to start calling other people and it's going to be a storm again like the whole Marshall thing.

I didn't read the whole Marshall thing and I can't control how people take stuff and run with it. Unfortunately its just the way it is when you have a coach that people are interested in...As Terry Holland said last week, its always better to be wondering who wants your coach than wondering how you're going to fire yours....

The ECU job is better than the Marshall job, no doubt. ECU is proving to be a consistent competitor in C-USA and making a play on the national scene. Marshall is finding some resources and they can be a winner, but they're behind ECU. Holtz got that thing rolling down there. As for givemethemic's assessment about Holland calling LU, I know nothing about that possibility, but one could assume there are multiple reasons he would look this way. I have a feeling he's familiar with our program.

For the record, I've been on the three largest ECU boards and no one seems to have any concerns about Holtz leaving for Cincy FWIW.

Expect Cincinnati’s search to replace Brian Kelly as head football coach to wrap up this week.
The top candidates appear to be East Carolina coach Skip Holtz and Central Michigan coach Butch Jones.

Sources have told CBS 6 Sports that the University of Richmond is looking to former assistant Latrell Scott to take over the Spider football program.

UR Athletic Director Jim Miller is reportedly very close to making an announcement.

Scott was an assistant for three years under former head coach Dave Clawson and he was also an assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator for the Spiders.

He spent one season at Tennessee when Clawson was named offensive coordinator for the Volunteers and spent last season coaching the wide receivers at UVA.

The former Lee-Davis standout has also coached at VMI and Western Carolina.

I think it's becoming obvious that if we are lucky enough to keep Rocco this season, it will almost definitely be the last.

Maybe not. We don't know what Rocco's thinking, and we don't know what offers will come his way. If he gets an offer like London today, he'd be a fool to pass it up. But he might not get an offer like that this year, or even next year.

We don't know where he'd be interested in going.

He's a smart guy. If he ever plans to leave the school, and I think we can all assume that we will eventually, and it's not in a BCS autobid conference, it's got to be a decent stepping stone. That's why I think ECU is a good choice. I don't think Buffalo is a very good option. It worked out for Gill, but overall there's not much visibility in that program. Plus I'd imagine it's not the easiest thing in the world to get kids to come to the garbage fire city of Buffalo. Marshall, I'm not too familiar with. I know they've had some success in the past and some NFL players but I don't recall them getting into any decent bowls.

Agreed, but it's also not out of the realm of possibility that we are that stepping stone. I could see Wake or Duke come calling in a few years if we keep improving.

My super secret sources say Butch Jones is Cincinnati's new coach. I think that is the big one out of the way for us, but there's still other possibilities.

Jones is out of CMU and headed to Cincy....BTW its interesting that Skip Holtz has no agent...The whole Big 10 expansion is very interesting to follow because somewhere down the line (more than likely the Big East) is going to come calling and I just don't forsee ECU in a non-BCS conference much longer...
