If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

I am cautiously optimistic with this. It is the first time I have felt this way. As with anything Liberty athletics related and resist getting to excited about anything.

If we do get the invite I guarantee we win the Big South outright only to be left out of the playoffs yet again because we'll be moving up. Someone else mentioned that earlier and I know that is exactly what will happen, haha

A half dozen crazy, vitriolic posters doesn't change the fact that the media links are all showing us to be right behind JMU for the spot.

That small handful of people is so out of touch with reality that you see other, sane, posters from SBC schools starting to ask for some of the crazies to be banned by the end of the thread. You'll always have that fringe contingent for those schools, just like Liberty does, the question is how does everyone else handle it. Just like many of us would like to see LU distance itself from people like Matt Barber, I'm sure many posters on the SBC boards would like to distance themselves from some of the insane folks posting there.

WHo cares what that thread says! all the people posting there arent the ones involved in the decision-making process. If conference invite decisions (or any major decisions for that matter) were made on and/or influenced by message boards, we probably would never have expanded our stadium, upgraded our facilities, commissioned a lengthy feasibility study or even talked about moving to the highest level of Division I football. As was said by jbock above,
We all can know JFLJR and Barber are the best to handle this situation.

But this is the purpose of Message Boards. You advocate doing away with a medium you utilize yourself. There's a pot / kettle thing here.

Im not saying that message boards should be done away with, its more that people are putting a lot more on the amount of influence that they have. We can talk and discuss all the live long day, but at the end of the day its not the people on the message board who are making the decisions, its the university presidents and administrators, as well as the conference administrators that are responsible for extending or not extending an invitation to a given institution

Yes. We know that. It's sort of the silently understood rule of Mesaage Boards. It's a place where you come to express opinions no matter how far flung or uninformed. Pulling the 'We aren't the decision makers so all comments are invalid' card is sort of pointless

The comments are valid, its just that at the end of the day they are valid within the context of the board itself. What some poster says about not wanting LU in their conference is their opinion and their opinion alone, not necessarily the official stance of the conference, so though it is to be accepted within the debate as part of the community, it should be taken with a grain of salt as far as the overall process

Because with all the moaning and losing of hope on one side and all the jumping up and down at even the mention of Liberty on the other that has been going on the last couple weeks, I figure it had to be said.

For a source to say that we are strong favorites along with JMU, that implies that there is no complete opposition to us by the SBC Presidents. In my opinion, that's a big development along the line.

My guess is that we are a strong favorite only to show JMU that there's another option behind them and force their hand. Granted, I don't care if the only reason we get in is because JMU said no, but right now us being a favorite is only a threat. I'll be the Sun Belt's sloppy seconds. I'm not too good for that.

Glad to see you are taking up the Sloppy Seconds mantra young Padawan

At this point, isn't LU even lower than sloppy seconds. App and Ga Southern went first. After JMU, wouldn't that make Liberty fourth?

What is that? Filthy fourths?

I'm good being whatever they need us to be. I don't mind being the last one off the Titanic only because someone threw a life vest to the wrong person. The goal is reached regardless of the intent of the other side.

From an attendance stand point App State and JMU are ahead of us. JMU is in play now. First question to be answered is will UMass commit all sports to the MAC? If not JMU probably to the MAC in their place. I wonder if JMU and LU could go as a pair. If not I think we get the next invite to the Sun Belt ....... But am still hoping for C-USA ....

So after being a "long time listener" to this forum (since I graduated in 2007) I felt compelled to finally join, and first say thanks to whoever created this wonderful one stop shop of all things LU (is there a thread here where I can read up on the history of how this started?) Secondly I wanted to comment on how impressed I am that the chancellor not only posts here, but seems to take a pretty active role in communicating what's going on behind the scenes. Like thepostman mentioned, it might not happen, but once the WKU piece moved, I've felt like we've got a much better shot now. It seems to be a really historic moment in our schools history, and love that I get a chance to share this experience with other LU alum/fans/students/employees!
