I forgot to mention this over the weekend, but Oz is not listed on the roster anymore. I guess he's already off the team.

Well hold on there, jc. You can redshirt somebody and not list them on your roster so I would take it easy on the talk of him being off the team.

Thank you, I'm glad someone sees it my way :D .

Seriously, why would you take someone off the roster just because he's being redshirted? That doesn't normally happen.

Well again, my thing is that there has to be something going on because he was signed, came to school, and on the roster before. Im just waiting for said explanation before I just throw out a conclusion. I mean Im not in the basketball offices day to day so I dont know what all goes on away from the court

It's not that complex to me, if you're on the roster, you're on the team, if you're not on the roster, you're not on the team. There are exceptions to everything, but something had to happen for his name to be removed from the roster. He may have been told that he wasn't going to get his scholarship next year, and decided to leave. Or he may have learned that he wasn't going to have a chance to play, so he quit the team.

He read this thread and gave up all hope of playing.

Tyler Baker's redshirting and he's still on the roster.

Is that official? This would be his 2nd redshirting year and he's already played in a few games.

It would have to be a medical redshirt if that's the case. And he's only played in 1 game so far.

Negative.

He has played in one game.

He has one game played on his official statistics.

way to argue semantics which doesn't change anything. Still, I was under the impression that his first redshirt was of the medical variety.

It's not official by any means. I probably shouldn't have mentioned it simply because it was just a rumor. If he redshirts, we'd have to petition the NCAA, but it'd likely be granted since it's obvious he's hurt. He was walking on Saturday and out of the cast, so it's possible he'll play this year.

If I am not mistaken, they cannot petition for the "6th Year" until he completes his eligibility in two years. Thus, a decision will have to be made. If he steps on the court the rest of the season, there will be no way to petition due to the medical redshirt rule (must play no more than 20% of games and all in the first half of the season).

Since we're still talking about Tyler, does anyone how is he progressing? Is he getting better, worse, or staying the same?

that is a can of worms. I think that's making a lot of assumptions.

Can someone define thuggery and then we can make a list of the players who are thugs. That would be helpful for me. I don't think we should have "would be" criminals on the team either.

I'll get the ball rolling. Any player with a tatt should be considered a thug correct?

Doesn't Russ have tats? Obviously a thug.

Manson, bro, usually agree with ya, but not this time.

If Russ has tats that obviously cannot be criteria.

I think that Coach McKay would not bring in a player that was not a sound moral young man.

I have faith in Coach that he looks at the young man and not just the game tape.

So with that, I am excited about this team we have coming. Using words like thuggery, however, is a bit overboard.
