Alltel is the CDMA carrier in this area, which is why Verizon doesn't operate here.

Alltel has the best coverage in Lynchburg, and they're the only ones to roll out any kind of high-speed wireless service here so far. (EVDO, if you're curious.) Sprint is trying to sign a contract with Alltel to share their EVDO coverage in Lynchburg, but that hasn't been inked yet. Verizon has not signed an EVDO roaming agreement with Alltel, so Verizon customers will still get standard CDMA coverage when in Lynchburg.
