Scott Frost will be the man they want. But Turner is still pretty beloved back in Neb. If he extends this little playoff run don't be surprised if he has an interview. Same holds true for Moglia.

Nebraska fired a guy with over $7m left on his contract....I don't think Jeff has that money to throw at a guy.
Yeah,my heir vault is much larger than ours. Could you imagine inking him for $1 million? Even that would be less that Corn U could offer.

You read an espn article, congrats. I'm telling you Nebraska isn't big on hiring someone they don't know. Yea it's possible it will happen again but they will be slow to go that route after Callahan debacle. Scott Frost is the front runner with Craig Bohl on the list (timing won't be right). But Turner will be mentioned if not called with another win or two.

Lincoln isn't the easiest place to recruit to and the same can be said of outside coaches. No one is mistaking it for Austin, Miami, or LA. If I was going to throw out a random outsider Greg Schiano.

The problem with Frost is that he has no head coaching experience and is an offensive guy. The biggest issue in Lincoln is the absence of Blackshirts from the program. If the firing was a year ago, Bohl would be the obvious choice. But he didn't exactly inspire confidence this season at Wyoming.

Bo's only head coaching experience was a bowl game for Neb after Solich was fired so it's not unheard of in Neb and while the defense has been a problem our offense sure hasn't looked like Oregon's either.

I'm hoping Eichorst has his man lined up. Firing a guy for 9 wins is tough unless you know exactly what you want and know how to get it.

This will play big in any hiring.

Turner Gill is not getting mentioned for Nebraska by any credible source. I have no doubt that he is in contact with powerful people at Nebraska and seeing where he is in relation to everyone else right now. But that doesn't mean that he is under consideration or will be under consideration for Nebraska.

The last two times that Nebraska hired someone they knew (Solich and Pelini), the administration undermined them internally, the fans attacked them, and both got run out of Lincoln. Some of the same things that Pelini said in the infamous taped conversation are being whispered by other coaches who know how Nebraska operates. Which is not good for a program that is looking for a great coach this offseason.

If you think the fans attacked Solich your insane...that was 100% an AD drunk on power as for Bo...he'd still be employed today if he handled the media better imo. But you bigger point of the expectations in Neb is valid which is why I think it ends up being someone with ties to the program. No one else qualified will want to deal with that stress.

You are right to say that there is a distinction between the fans/Solich and fans/Pelini relationships. But some of them did attack Solich. There is still proof of it on the Husker Board, other forums, and news outlets. It was not nearly to the extent or as divisive that Pelini was and it manifested itself in different ways. It was not a massive call for firing like it was with Pelini, but it did exist.

No doubt, Solich got screwed by Pederson. He is the main culprit. But there were a lot of people in the administration, boosters, fans, and other powerful people in Nebraska that knew what was happening and could have stopped that travesty. Some fans and supporters did start petitions and fight to keep him, so I give them credit.

I think it will be Frost, too. Personally, I would pick Bohl, but there are some conflicts that have not been resolved between Bohl and Nebraska. I think that those things will be too much to overcome. We shall see.

I think this is probably the type of job we should worry about losing our head coach. I have no idea what Gill's looking for in the immediate future but he'd probably have to breakthrough the lower FBS ranks to get a crack at a Power-5 school again. Tulsa just seems like it'd be a good fit.

I don't care for Colin Cowherd very much but he nailed Nebraska. Elite level athletes don't want to spend 4-years in a cornfield. Getting players to some of these midwest schools is a challenge and Pelini did as good a job as any could have expected him to do in that setting. I think they're going to end up kicking themselves soon in letting him go.
