I wish we wouldn't spend our time crying about getting spit on by inebriated fans at their stadium. It's what you should expect, because it happens everywhere. The last thing we need is to be repped by a bunch of pussbags.

I really like the thundersticks...they keep me from losing my voice! But I have a warning. If they're red and it's a close game, be careful. Last year I took an extra set of thundersticks to the LU/JMU game when it was in harrisonburg.

I was grabbing onto them really tight, because it was such a close game...the red dye came off in my hands and I somehow rubbed it into my eyes...man does it burn. It's like they were on fire. It never happened with the white ones...just the red ones...and that was the only time it happened was at that game...I guess I never held them too tight at any other game. :)

Anyway, I'm way too excited about this game and posting way too much.

But one more thing. If LU wins this Saturday, we'll actually be tied in the all time series (6 wins each in 12 games)...that would make next year's game for the overall series leader.

No. JMU leads 11-5 in their 16 meetings. You must have misread JMU's win total as the number of games that have been played in the series.

LU is 2-5 at home, and 3-6 on the road

1980- JMU 30-14
1981- JMU 36-14
1983- JMU 44-35
1984- JMU 52-43
1985- LU 9-3
1986- LU 17-7
1988- JMU 31-28
1989- LU- 19-14
1990- LU 22-19
1991- JMU 35-34
1992- LU 34-31
2000- JMU 38-7
2001- JMU 14-7
2003- JMU 48-6
2009- JMU 24-10
2010- JMU 10-3

JMU has been on a different level, but the gap has narrowed. If im not mistaken once they joined the CAA, they quit playing us til the series started back in 2009.

Why not VuvZelas? Sponsored by the Old Testament Dept. We could call them the LU Shofars! Very Biblical AND annoying!

amen! you should always be ready for the oppsosing team to run some smack at you even if its a home game. just keep it clean. If the opposing teams fans cant do that, then ignore them as long as possible. At NC State this drunk guy kept on yelling "HELL-U" which i found more annoying than anything, but his last comment of "Jerry cant save you now" hacked me off so i told the d-bag to come on over to my section and we could chat. he mouthed f... you and sat down. LOL.

Actually Jerry Can't Save You Know! Is pretty clever. I've heard Hell-U before and found it mildly clever.

Yea, let me say I'm not condoning any actions like this. I'm always disappointed when people have a bad experience in Harrisonburg because I feel like a few bad apples give us all a bad name and I really care about the university. And it goes on everywhere.

I had a similar experience at UNC. First, my wife and I and another couple were walking to the game from our tailgate and some guys came by dropping F bombs for about a block....classy. Then we were waiting in line and some drunk guys right behind me were talking smack like I wasn't going to turn around. So I turned around looked at the guy, tipped up an imaginary cup and told him to drink a little more, I thought it was helping. He turned back and huddled with his buddies and most of the UNC fans around me got a pretty good kick out of it.

Most fans, like most people, are good and decent and want their university to be reflected in a positive light. Then there are the idiots who think they've given their team an extra shot at winning because they degrade the visiting fans....

Incidentally my worst experience was in Boone. The nasties we ran into there were nuts (and our son was just over a year old and with us), and I'll leave it at that.

if you go to a road game you just have to know something is going to get said to you if your wearing our gear. To expect that not to happen is just naive. Atleast it's not as bad as NFL games, go to those and you will appreciate the college atmosphere. I really only had one punk at the JMU game last year asked us if we brought our bibles haha, i just held up my ipod touch and said yep...biblereader is on here. Most of the JMU guys that post on here are sound like pretty good guys honestly. I think the worst place i've been in college, is still VT...basketball when JJ Reddick was playing there for Duke...wow, they took it to the line over the line and then off the equator.

I LOVE going to road games for this very point. I love people directing smack towards me. I give it right back. I had so much fun at NC State, and the entire section I was in kept taking shots at me off and on during the game, especially during the 4th quarter. But all in good fun.

When you run into stuff like this, blow'em away with class. I have a saying, "Id rather deal with someone like that for 5 mins .... than to be "them" for the rest of my life." and that's for sure!

But the guy at NC state said Mike Brown was Ugly. And did the degeneration X thing when Mike fumbled (every time). And he even said Jerry Falwell was gay.

Sweetd17 wrote:I would like to clarify my last post. When I said JMU was classless I was referring to how the Liberty fans are treated when we come to JMU for a game. Having beer bottles thrown at the visiting fans and being mocked for our faith is unfair to Liberty fans who are trying to enjoy the game. In no way did I mean to call the whole university classless. JMU is a well-run university and their athletics program has had success in past years. I am looking forward to the game on Saturday and i'm hoping it is an enjoyable game. May the best team win.
I've never had that problem at JMU. The fans were actually pretty nice to me personally. But then again I hung around people who I know go to JMU before the game :D

Surprisingly, I never heard an "explative Liberty" at JMU or NC State. Only at WVU but I made it clear I would be a WVU fan any other day.

I had about 5 JMU fans say "Good game Liberty" as I walked to my car. I drank water at the water fountain by the JMU student section and nobody said a harmful word.

I had one guy yell "I hate Liberty" right in my ear at NC State. I just simply told him that NC State gets just as much excited at beating FCS teams as we do :D

Man, what happened to Thorpe? I remember a few years ago he was supposedly the obvious choice to start over Dudzik.

16-of-26 Passing for 199 Yards with 2 TDs & 2 INTs + 20 Carries for 52 Yards

Those are some pretty awful stats even keeping in mind one of them was against UNC. Those look like a fraction of what Dudzik would have gotten against CCSU alone. Was their defense that good? I guess we'll find out.

I was at both games. Two different QBs each game. Against UNC he was really good. I think 11-15 for around 150 yds. and a long TD pass. He threw a good ball and was accurate. A couple of his incompletions were miscommunication on routes.

Against CCSU, he was terrible. Underthrown balls, a screen pass three feet over the receivers head, forcing it into coverage. IIRC, we didn't pass the entire second half. MM's explanation at the Monday presser was we were gashing them so good on the ground, he felt like it would be stupid to try and pass it...um, yea...we weren't getting first downs either. We did average around 7.5 yds/carry so there's a little bit of validity to that, but let him throw the ball!

Their defense was okay, I'm not going to slight them because you gotta make the plays. But I think which JT shows up determines who wins the game. If we can't pass, we can't move the ball on the ground against LU like we did against CCSU and we're sunk...

JMU has been able to run the ball against LU well the last 2 years, but we have thrown poorly against them. I feel like Asa was somewhat of a non-factor in those games because we like to zone-read at the edge, so if LU's replacement is smaller and quicker, he might make a bigger impact in helping stop the running game. I still think we'll get our yards rushing, but without being able to throw the ball well eventually the 3rd and 3 running plays will get stuffed.
