This is another reason for the independent investigation. Being a private school, we only hear about these things when there is a tax return made public, usually over a year old.

Absolute madness. Absolute misuse of university resources. Nasser doesn't come close to providing $400,000 worth of value to LU, and to think that they have his family on payroll too is disconcerting. I cannot help but think such a large payment was given by Jerry due to Nasser basically acting as a handler of the student body and a PR rep for the complaints of the student body against Jerry.

For what his job description was - essentially protecting Jr and keeping the students at bay - he did a good job.

Between he and his wife he they were making half a million dollars per year and living in University housing in return for spiritually manipulating the student body. I just have trouble respecting someone who can do all that in the name of Jesus.

The job description needs to change and he has disqualified himself from fulfilling it in the future.

@Jonathan Carone, so you aren't a fan of the campus pastor handing out Gucci gifts to speakers he already paid their full appearance fee to? I think gifts like that make sense considering you just picked them up in a brand new fully custom Mercedes-Benz shuttle bus. Could you imagine only being given a mug and a Jesus First pin as gifts while sitting in a room that looks like Restoration Hardware just threw up in?


Truth be told, my colleague said he wasn't in the right frame of mind to win souls for Christ before speaking. Then he saw the leather-bound "luxury edition" of "The Making of Gucci" on the airplane wing/table and that put him in the right frame of mind. He wasn't exactly sure why Nasser has such an obsession with Gucci but he went with it.

Or how about any? I agree with your sentiment, I'm just wondering how it's even legal for people who aren't performing work for the university/organization to receive compensation. I know it happens, it just smacks of further nepotism and...honestly laziness. Maybe I'm too much of a common man, but in what universe would I negotiate my salary, along with a salary for my wife and son? Forget that that...just pay it all to me and I'll reroute it to their allowance

I do not begrudge people making a lot of money. I used to think that all CEO's were grossly overpaid, until I worked for a couple.
It would be interesting to see how many of Jr's family, extended family and friends are on the payroll. I am sure it would surprise us all, even though we all believe the number to be BIG.
Back to Nasser, if one were to write a job review for him, what would you use for key metrics? How would you write a list of objectives for that job? Measurables? The only thing he has said that I believe, is that he was generally told who to invite as guest speakers. Based on the list, I suspect Jr. contacted and booked many of them.
As someone else stated, has he earned his salary? IMHO.................. laughable. My guess is, that he and Jr. were covering/enabling each other. Plus Becki was a big fan.

I do know that Nasser's son was working for LU stages (basically convo setup and production) at one point.

Rudy worked in the office that handled Convo for at least one year (can't remember if that's office of spiritual life or what they called it) but he doesn't work there anymore. It was either a year or year and half ago he was hired by the CEO of Ashley Furniture shortly after he was a guest at Convo. At least that was the word going around between other members of that office.

As far as Jennifer, I'm not entirely sure what she did but I know she played a role in organizing some special events for VIP guests. I was up at the new gun club lodge the day Don Jr came up and she was there early helping her last minute details completed. Does her job warrant 100k? No. Was Rudy grossly overpaid? Also no.

This is absolutely corrupt! How much could save in cost for the kids and parents? How much could be increase pay and extend tenure to faculty and staff? The complete disregard for LU's resources, as proven here, should be DEDUCTED from Jerry's severance and these cronyism jobs! I know it can't happen that way....but *&^%%&. So many words I want to use right now.

Honest question ballcoach, why are you so critical of Nasser (well deserved btw) but seem to just give everybody else a pass? It makes no logical sense to me.
