Chris Lang wrote:Also, the Liberty @ Montana football game has been confirmed for Sept. 15 in Missoula. The Grizzlies are expected to return the trip in '16.

Liberty AD Jeff Barber said final piece of Flames' 2012 sked will be home game against an FCS team. No game with Va. Tech next year.

If Liberty plays Montana (@ Montana) in 2012, I am REALLY excited!!! :D

I have absolutely no affinity for Montana, just that this game would be really close in location for me to attend and travel too. I live in Ogden, Utah so Missoula would only be a couple hours away. I've always hoped that Liberty would also schedule a game some day against Weber State University as well.

I hadn't been following the 2012 LU scheduling much over the past couple weeks - so I was extremely pumped to hear this recent news!!! It can be really hard living so far away from Lynchburg or the east coast sometimes as an Liberty Alum, so this sort of thing is huge to me(!).

When I moved out here to do ministry in 2006, I was on "cloud 9" to see Liberty play locally for three days of basketball at the BYU Classic Tourney in Provo at New Years. I drove 150 miles round trip on each of these three days. I detest BYU, so it was awesome to see Liberty play a very respectable, close back & forth game. At this tourney, all of the out of town Liberty, Seton Hall & Oral Roberts fan's even banded together to attend, support and cheer together whenever their teams played against BYU. So, Liberty had an especially large & loud crowd that night.

If Liberty plays Montana and it is confirmed, I will definately make the road trip to Missoula.

There is no "if". It is confirmed. We will definitely be playing @ Montana on 9/15/12.

The obvious hope would be a crappy FCS team (such as Savannah State, Saint Francis, etc.)

A number of us are looking into making the trip up to Wa-Griz Stadium. Here's a pic from their last home game:

I absolutely love that city. And it is early enough in the fall to hopefully not be ridiculously cold.

Who flies into Missoula? I looked at it and Delta flies there for about $470 from Raleigh. Any other suggestions?

Delta is really the only carrier from the East Coast. I've seen rates lower the past couple of weeks out of Richmond.

An Option I have considered is flying into LAX, they have dirt cheap flights into missoula. Total it would cost less than 400.

Any guesses on a game time for the Montana game. May have to get a hotel for 1 or 2 nights depending on game time and flights in and out.

Wonder if LU would ever think of having a charter flight out for the game?

Really depends. The East Coast, then Delta. But the Southeast? US Airways.

I looked for fun the other day, and the best price I saw was flying out of Roanoke to Missoula was like $600 bucks (even better deal than Lynchburg, Greensboro, etc.)

But, there's bound to be plenty of sales between now and then. Just keep your eye on it every week or so.

The only airlines that fly into MSO that do fly regularly from the east coast are Delta and United. Alaska air also services the place but I'm not sure how their codeshare agreements would work.
