paradox wrote:The notion that McKay may be a short-termer actually began before he was even hired. Those who didn't want him here used it as an argument against hiring the man because RM has a history of jumping to a new job every third year or so.

One thing about McKay, he's not a superficial Christian who speaks chistianese, but on the contrary a real and genuine individual who puts Christ first. The LU situation is ideal for RM and he views it as a calling. That's why the Curry and the McMasters families want to be associated with him.

LU and McKay are good for each other. It's a win-win as far as I'm concerned. My prediction is that this will be his longest tenure as a coach.

Something tells me htat Senor Dickens and his inside source are stirring up a little trouble ahead of the first game (or trying to at least)

ummm.....just went with what someone told me.

I thought it was valid considering the source; however, BJ once again, like last year when I said RD would be finished, you seem to think I am not right.....However, consider how much of what I have ever said concerning LU basketball and I have never said anything that didn't have some evidence to support it.

Surprised to hear about this rumor which I hope ain't true. The same thing was said about Cary Green when he got to the sweet 16 but that never happened. He at least would have to get to the NCAA's for a bigger school to come callling.

And didn't Green turn down the job offer, even though his son was on the AD staff at Clemson?

I'll grant you that you had some pretty solid things to say about RD's exit. Im just saying it seems you are at the forefronmt when there is bad news, but if something good happens you are nowhere to be seen.

He will have to do better thatn his 70-100 conference winning percentage. The word is usually does well with previous staff recruits then has a difficult time maintaining a evel of success. Certainly has 5-7 talented players with 2-3 possible all-conference caliber from rd's crew however do to lack of any quality additions to the roster by current staff our depth is a issue. It will be entertaining and interesting when the lights come on for real this week.

now you are just talking out your butt......

I thought it was good to hire McKay
I said great things about his incoming recruits
I have done nothing but give positive posts about McKay....and this is not negative about Mckay, only something good that might happen for his sake. You as always don't know what you are talking about.

Now, BJ.......if you have the brain capacity, please tell me when something good happened at LU, and I was nowhere to be seen.....

since, this is directed to you I probably need to mention that you should keep it within the lines of things I actually talk about on here...

so....basketball, football, debate team, politics (not that much good comes from politics, so you can probably skip this one), RD (nothing good has come from that, so you could skip that as well), School purchasing property, and a few others.

once again, you have proven why FF cannot open debate in person......it would get a little bit bloody

dickens you appear to be the unstable one who is closeminded to the facts and a bit blinded by your own pride.

Once again you demonstrate that you are not only hopelessly negative, but apparently have little understanding of either how recruiting works in the 21st century, or how a quality program is built, especially at a place like LU.

As we will happily see within the next few weeks, the vast majority of quality HS recruits are now signed in the Fall early signing period. When RMc was hired, his options were somewhat limited, but I do believe Jeremy Anderson will make a contribution. I for one am happy that he did not go the RD route and bring in JuCo players and transfers with 1 or 2 years of eligibility.

The fact that RMc is showing the patience to build for the future with quality HS players who want to come to LU BECAUSE of what it is, not IN SPITE of what it is, not only is IMHO the right way to do it, but is also perhaps the biggest indication that these rumors are without substance. If his goal was to have some quick success and move on to "bigger things" ASAP, it would seem he is going about things all wrong.

With Ritchie McKay's past its easy to see why these kind of rumors would be out there. He never displayed a ton of loyality anywhere he went....

with that said I think it is just coaches talking...they don't understand why he would take this Liberty job...they view it as a step down and just a way for McKay to get his name out there again to move on to bigger and better things. I am not shocked that these kind of rumors exist...I just don't buy it....Jeff Barber has done such a great job I would expect that these exact questions were asked when McKay was being interviewed....Jeff Barber liked what he heard...and I have faith in that...also this is just a great fit for Ritchie....I just would be shocked if he wasn't here for the long term....but if not, then so be it...thats life for school's like Liberty...I don't have to like it, but its just reality....

but like I said...I see Coach McKay here for the long term

Alrighty. New rule on FlameFans: No talking about coaches leaving before they've even coached their first game.

I can't believe I even had to say that.
