"not getting it" means that they didn't understand the joke. Not that they didn't find it funny. Knock knock jokes aren't funny, but I can see how they are supposed to be. I know how some people find some things funny while others don't. But if I don't think it's funny, I think it is insulting to assume that I don't understand the joke.

i'll go with the lost in translation group. i didnt find that or rushmore to be funny, but I wasnt watching them for a comedy movie. havent seen the life aquatic or broken flowers movie, though. what I have realized (at least to me) is that the people who like lost in translation and rushmore tend to be more intelligent. not meant to be an insult to people who don't like it, but that's what I ahve observed from people I actually know.

I liked 'Lost In Translation' but, I agree, it was not a comedy. 'Rushmore' was OK. 'The Life Aquatic' was flat-out hysterical. Haven't seen 'Broken Flowers'.

I think all the Bill Murray eras have their own brand of quality, with or without the intended humor. The man is a talented actor and a comic genius even when he's serious. I wish someone would greenlight the Press Your Luck movie already.
