I think it is inevitable that teams will recruit the caliber of player that can compete with you. They get tired of laying down and playing dead vs Liberty. I have not seen a lot of big south women's hoops this season but I have seen our team and I know it is talented. I think coach Green has hit the problem before in his post game comments: They seem to get complacent. He is trying to find a way to motivate them. I don't think that our team is playing down to the competition. I think they have raised their game to Liberty's level at times and have refused to be intimidated. The talent disparity used to be so great that Liberty could play its worst game and still win by double digits in this conference on most nights. That clearly is not the case but again, I am not ready to say that our team isn't talented enough. I do think they have their weaknesses that are very visible but in the past, Liberty appeared to not have any weaknesses. ODU has gone through this during their streak as well but then when the tournament starts, ODU is always in the final game. Let's hope we wake up soon.

I agree that the Big South is getting better but most of it is on us. The talent level on this team has diminished when Katie Feenstra, and the other seniors graduated. Megan is about the only player that you can count on to consistently score and rebound game in and game out. The others are just not at all consistent. Hopefully we will get over this and win the tournament. Could be a wakeup call.

I agree that our team is not as talented as the Feenstra teams. Rima Margeveciute used to kill teams when they doubled Katie with their 4 man (woman?). She was a good 3 point shooter, rebounder and could have played the 5 for us without Katie and we would have still won the big south. Times have changed.

Just looking at our recruiting class for this year I don't see anyone that is going to change things all that much. I could be wrong though. I guess I can't look ahead too much until after the season is over.

The team played good defense and kept UNCA in front of them in the first half. The second half they get to the line a lot because we couldn't keep UNCA in front on defense. Turning the ball in the corner and Parker kicking the ball out of bounds when we were inbounding just capped off an ugly loss.

good point and 26 turnovers too and the last two turnovers in the waning seconds of the game. We definitely gave this game away.

I don't understand how the BSOUTH could get this much better in one year. Last year we struggled some with out Megan but we still won the championship. Everyone was saying that was the year to beat LU, but they didn't. This year we have everyone back with a year more experience plus Megan, and we are loosing or barely winning against teams we used to have hardley any problem beating. Some one please explain!

I was having an extremely good day today untill LU lost. My team just won our regular season and tourney championship today and we are going to states! But LU lost and now I'm mad!

LU was down by 3 with something like 3.9 seconds left...I think Parker inbounded it to Rachel Hammond who seemed to be shot out of a cannon and got almost to the 3 point line and chucked it up off the rim...but I'm glad it didn't go in b/c it wouldn't have counted. Did they call a travel there, or what happened...didn't understand HP inbounding to end the game??

Rachel hammond was called for a double dribble when she chucked up that shot.

Critic and others are right about this team not getting better. It is unfortunate but true. Having Megan back was supposed to take this group to a different level but at times they have regressed. That would be because Asheville took it to the whole a lot more than we did. While it looks weird there are SEVERAL teams each year that MAKE more free throws than their opponents attempt.
As I told the esteemed cluster around me "This game was brought to you be HOstess. FOr that special time when a turnover really counts!"

As for the talent. This team's chemistry looks like my grade in High School chemistry.............. We HAVE the talent, and than some.

It was a home Game, Senior Night, UNCA hasn't beaten us in forever, and we just found out that HPU lost right before we tiped off.

Not to mention Softball team won today, Baseball sweeps DH and Mens BBall won at Radford (only 3rd time that happened) So of course we would cap off a great day of Flames athletics by taking over first place Right?
