WEF is now blocked from the web (or at least the entertaining part) from 8-5 now. And it's looking like that may happen to me as well in a few weeks.

brewington is a high major talent. what does terrell martin mean to winthrop? espedcially with bradshaw shooting 4-24 from three. yes winthrop is good but north greenville, virginis intermont, presbyrterian and limestome are on their win column. brewington vs martin, blair vs gaynor, smith vs jenkins, mcclean vs bradshaw, hubbard/porter vs williams--i can't wait to see it. brewington is an inside/out big time athlete who can score in a variety of ways.

If the teams keep improving, and Brew is like everyone says he is, Winthrop/Liberty is going to be an awesome game to watch. Too bad the students won't be here for that game.

You guys crack me up. Yes, WU has beaten some no-names, but they also beat Miss. St. and Northern Illinios and took UNC and Wisconsin to the wire. LU has played one of the worst non conference schedules in the country on their home floor. You might want to see how they do against semi-decent competition on the road before pumping them up so much. I still see a 10 point win at LU at the least, and the normal 20+ at home.

Not to dis my alma mater, but Winthrop is for real. We would have to play our best to win at home and away. I would put Winthrop in with BYU, Buffalo, Oral Roberts, and Seton Hall. A win against these team would be a great accomplishment.

Except we play WU at least twice a year, every year. There's familiarity, and with that they are very beatable home or away. I'd say that no matter how good or bad we are in a given year.

That is true. I agree with SuperJon that when we play them it will be a great game (at home anyways), but I am not ready to say that we will split with them guaranteed. To stay on topic, I am excited about seeing Brew play. I will be able to make it to the Buffalo game so I will have to let you guys know if he is legit. Anybody else gonna make it to Buffalo?

I will be in town and I will be there. I can not wait to see this game. I think it will be an interesting game. Like you said if this team continues to improve and Brew is as good as people say he is, it should be one heck of game.....but its one of those wait and see kind of things for me...too bad it is before the rest of the students get back...dumb, dumb, dumb

paradox wrote:I'm a little new here on this board, and with all due respect, I sense that our Winthrop fan may be just a little thin-skinned but that's ok. If he hangs out with LUers long enough, maybe LU will rub off on him and he'll get a little thicker cuz I don't think it's possible to survive a single semester here and remain thin and worry 'bout what people are gonna say about ya.

That being said, I'd like venture this thought: With all the hype surrounding Winthrop and so little to show except for a bunch of Small South Conference championships and a bunch of woulda, coulda, shoulda's in the NCAA's, I feel the pressure is really mounting for that program. What if losing at the buzzer in the NCAA's to a very beat-able UT program last year is as good as it will ever get for those guys. Don't get me wrong, I think they are a very good team--but they lost their opportunity to sneak up on someone in the big tourney. Sometimes losing the big one can become a hard habit to break .

I don't care if we lose both regular season games to Winthrop this year. I'm waiting for March, when Dunton and Co. kicks the door in and lets the dogs out on this conference! And we'll just find out how good Brew, Blair and Co. can be. And who knows, we may even sneak up on a team or two in the NCAA's and actually win. Again, I'm an optimist
i like you. lol

wow, is our WU fan saying beating us in a shoe in?? I mean yes they are good, nobody in their right mind on this board would ever deny that. If they do, then they are idiots. But, I think that most people on this board feel this way: we will give winthrop a battle both times we play them IF this Brew kid is as good as advertised and the team continues to improve. There is no way Winthrop can say for sure that they will beat us, especially twice....

Realist has been hanging around us for a couple of years now. And he has become a little more realistic than some of his fellow WU fans (Winthrop Eagle Fan is a clear exception ... he's one of the classiest and best informed posters on our board). If you drop by their board you will find that many of them honestly believe they are going to run the table the rest of the way.

Obviously Realist and some of their fans are greatly underestimating our improvement. If our patchwork squad could beat them this past season, we certainly are more than capable of doing it again this year. But we'll all find out together on the court.

I don't know how good Brewington will be, but as a WU fan, I'm interested in seeing how he integrates with the team. With his talent, he gives LU a formidable backcourt, but if his ego comes into play like it did at Providence, that could be a problem for the team's chemistry.

I'm excited for the WU-LU games this year. Hopefully, if plans go accordingly, I'll be at the Vines in my garnet and gold cheering for WU at the first game.
