Speaking of the LU chant (and this may belong in the Longwood Post-moretem thread), but I heard the students chanting "LU" against Longwood. They're LU also, that one should be banned in games against Longwood.

no that is just a little bit too obnoxious for my liking, i think we should all sit on our butts and pretend we are watching golf so we do not upset any of the uptight students we have that just want to socialize and maybe catch a bit of a basketball game.......

I was going to ask about that too...I remember back in the 2001 Big South Tournament that was being played in Roanoke when WU played LU in the semifinals. WU was a heavy favorite in that game but LU managed to get a double-digit lead early in the 2nd half. There were probably a couple of thousand LU fans in the Roanoke Civic Center and they started doing that LU chant during a timeout when LU went up by like 16 and I thought it was very loud and in unison and very cool (well at the time, I thought it was annoying, but that was because WU was down by 16, not because of the actual chant). But I haven't heard it in a few years (though I haven't been to an LU home game during that time either).

It's still around. It's the only thing most LU students are coordinated enough to do.

Either that or the holy rollers think anything else is too mean and disrespectful.

IVE GOT IT! I know how to get people out to the game! Especially Liberty! Have a rock concert at halftime... for those of us who hate rock it would suck, but im willing to take one for the team... What do you think?!

sounds like a good plan to me...it would work too, one thing that could happen is people would leave after halftime...some pro teams will do post game concerts...maybe do that

Couldn't tell you. I suggested it for football season. It wouldn't be hard to get an up and coming Christian band to come in after a game. All it would take in a lot of cases is some food, a place to sleep, and the chance to sell merch. How many up and coming bands are going to turn down a chance to play at a Christian university with 6000 kids?

not very many thats for sure....its a great idea SJ and I don't understand why it can't happen. Especially with the team winning and people still don't seem to care, you've got to try something....I just don't understand things around here...maybe the kid transferring to Maryland because of lack of fan support isn't so stupid after all....ok, i won't go that far....

A band that just signed to something like Mono Vs Stereo or something on that level would be stupid to turn down the exposure. Give em a bed, a shower, some food, and a chance to sell merch and they'd be happy. I even offered to set it up.

yeah....I can think of a handful of bands that would do it without a problem....most newly signed bands ask for $500, a place to sleep, food, and a merch area....with that you can get about almost any up and coming newly signed christian band on mono vs stereo, flicker, or tooth and nail without a problem....

I don't know SJ...that is kind of the standard that is set by the record labels...so I am not sure if it could be knocked down a bit or not....but it would be worth a try that is for sure

I know it's the standard, but look at it this way:

$500 guaranteed to play in front of 200-300 people at a club (on a good night).

Less guaranteed to play in front of 6000-7000 at a Christian university. At the least, you could say, "If you don't sell ____ amount of merchandise, we will pay the difference up to ____ amount of dollars."
