Kenpom currently has our defensive efficiency ranked at 42 which is the highest defensive ranking in program history if it holds. The second highest is the 2022-23 team who finished ranked 51st. This is especially impressive considering at this point in the season it still includes preseason and previous season data that is likely hurting our rankings.

I wouldn't call him elite but he looks much improved…
Elite program-wise. He’s at least at the door. Might even be there already. Either way, there’s only been a few, in my view: Vel, Jesse, Hildo. And now, maybe, CP?

He’s had a great couple of weeks. But cmon, he’s gotta sustain it for longer to be on that list. You know that.

And elite is like Nembhard and Sears. So, I’m glad you clarified to program-wise.

Just having a little fun with the haters. And at the same time, no, it’s not out of the question. But, obviously, the second half of his career ultimately defines him.

CP0 has a great handle. He knows his role and has been great at penetrating to create opportunities for other guys around the basket or on the perimeter. We’re only a few weeks into his 3rd year, but he’s having a great start to the season so far. I’m glad he’s not hesitant to take shots anymore. He’s proven himself capable in that aspect so if it’s there he needs to pull the trigger. It will not surprise me if at the end of his career we are talking about him as being among the program greats.

We have to remember also that Porter, age-wise, is only a sophomore as he came a year early to Liberty. He appears to me to have been working hard in the weight room and looks a lot stronger this year.

We now are #1 in the NCAA in effective FG %
Trying to remember if we have ever led the nation in any team statistic in my 50 years of following the Flames. Can't think of one. We have been close in FT and scoring defense.

Ah, the armchair coaches—those brave souls who can break down every play from the comfort of their recliners, using nothing but a snack in one hand and a remote in the other. They’ve spent hours predicting who’ll be the breakout star, only to realize that the player they hyped up hasn’t even seen the court yet. They’ve dissected every recruit’s highlight reel like they’re the next basketball prophet, only to see them struggle with their shoelaces during the first scrimmage. They’ve predicted championship runs with the confidence of a fortune teller, only to have their dreams crushed faster than a fast break layup. And let’s not forget their absolute certainty that the “underdog” player will turn into the next Michael Jordan—until they miss a free throw and suddenly the whole team is “not doing their job.” Honestly, these coaches are like that friend who picks the winning lottery numbers... and then wonders why they didn’t win.

"Fair point, I get that not everyone enjoys the humor in poking fun at armchair coaching, but sometimes the best way to highlight the absurdity is with a little satire. It’s not spam—just a playful reminder that, much like in the real world, predictions are often made without considering the unpredictable nature of sports. Sometimes, it’s all about the entertainment, especially when we’re not all in the game ourselves!"

"Well, I’ve got more insight than a fortune teller with a PhD in basketball—just don’t ask me for stock tips! As for being a troll, I’m not sure; I prefer to think of myself as a 'strategic commentator & Armchair coach ' with a side of humor. But if I’m a troll, I must be the kind that offers gourmet snacks and deep insights under the bridge!"

I believe the "armchair coaches" are all patiently awaiting any insight that your sage humor can serve up. Have you posted anything of substance to date??

Posting nonsense isn’t better than posting nothing at all.

I think hot takes are acceptable but just typing words with no coherent thought waters down the threads. My two cents.

You mean like the Armchair dude did when they made this thread about the posters instead of the 24-25 Men's basketball season?

Well, as the wise old LU Armchair Coach, I’ve been closely analyzing the Flames' 16-4 record this year, and honestly, they could be undefeated if we could just erase those two ‘oops’ moments (you know, the ones that don’t fit into my perfect theory of basketball). I’ve got more insight than a fortune teller at this point, and with a few more madee free-throws, we’d be looking at a flawless season easy. Now, the road ahead? Tough, tough, tough. Kennesaw State on Thursday? Hostile as a Wi-Fi password at a coffee shop. And then, Jax State on Saturday? Let’s just say they’re the kind of team that makes you question your life choices and your snack choices. But hey, as an armchair coach, I’ve got faith—just need to remind the Flames that the basketball hoop is not a suggestion, it’s a target!

Reminds me of football season, where we were 3 plays away, from going undefeated in regular season. :football

Not enough metaphors and other random phrases. I think you have to watch an episode of the Beverly hillbillies or something to get in the right mindset first.
