If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

I was more referring to his first point of not being able to get a really good coach...

This is why Bronco was an attractive hire for UVa. Study

10 things you need to know about Bronco Mendenhall
7. His players do well in class. Under Mendenhall, the Cougars tied for seventh among all FBS programs for the most Academic All-America citations over the last decade and BYU tops all FBS programs with the most selections (39) to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society (recognizing starters and significant contributors finishing their eligibility with a 3.2 GPA or better over their college career) since the program began in 2007.

And he's even getting paid $3.25 million, which is $50,000 more than Tech's new head coach. :fineprint (thanks for the math help, flamehunter!)

You were saying...
Let me highlight/bold something for you. Unlike some posters on this board. I came out first hand saying my statement may be wrong beforehand, I'm not the all knowing, perfect poster. Secondly I agree with Purple that they may have caught lightning in a bottle. The first amount of sustained success/ACC championship, back to back 10 win seasons which has never happened in UVA Football History, he is out of there.

2 things:

1) I'm not all knowing and I'm not perfect. Jon, if he was still here, could write an encyclopedia of all the times I've been wrong in my posting history on here.
2) I doubt he is that quick to jump ship. This is a guy who stayed in Provo Utah for over a decade as an assistant and head coach before taking the gig in C-Ville.

He was mentioned for several jobs. In fact, meh put out there that he wasn't really interested in any other gig. Makes wonder what went on behind closed doors.

BYU's football program is fairly dysfunctional.

He's a BYU-type guy. I have mostly heard him mentioned for top tier OC gigs the past few years. This hire came somewhat out of leftfield. I'm anxious to see how he connects in the UVa ecosystem.

Which ones? Who did the mentioning? BJ gets quite a few mentions when jobs come open. lol

Typical coach speak goes like this: Coach doesnt want job, says "I'm not really interested in any other gig." Coach DOES want job, says "I'm not really interested in any other gig" and has his agent get cracking behind the scenes. Either way, it is hard to know if the coach genuinely had interest or not. He may have been BEGGING to leave, but Mittens wouldn't let him. ;)

From what I hear, this move from BYU to UVA was 99% $$$$$$$$$ related. Big culture change from Mormon country to Liberal Charlottesville.
