Wow, just wow. At least the screen name isn't Spellsalot.

This was a classic trap game. Toman correctly used Niggli to secure the UNC win, but that leaves us without our #1 starter for the weekend. The guys did a great job of coming back today and just couldn't quite hold on. Such is life. Get the next two and move on. That UNC win is much bigger than a single UNCA loss.

Niggli will go tomorrow I think he said in pregame. If I was in his shoes Id of gone to Niggli in that spot too. They used their best arms against us and Id expect us to use our best arms against them. If the win had been over say...Duke then Trott's point might hold water but I think beating the #6 team in the country will hold a lot more weight with the committee than losing a game to UNCA. We win the series and its pretty much forgotten and we move on to the big series of the season next week...that trollin dog dont hunt my friend

Humble, couldn't help but notice the 06z NAM has me in for 1-2 inches of snow tomorrow night

Looks like Pittsburgh could get around a foot, maybe more.

As for Asheville, looking rainy the entire day today. If they want to get it in, theyll need to move up the start time.

Reminds me of that one time you had stoled your post from The Five. :D

I looked it up and apparently it's a word? Cider we need help, is stoled really a word? Sounds grammatically incorrect.

For what it worth . . . . the supposed strikeout /passed ball that gave them their 5th run was bogus. I was listening to the game and you could hear clearly a double tip, that's why Wimmer never chased after the ball and that's how their runner from second could score and the guy who struck out ran all the way to second. The audio was very clear . . a blown call by the home plate ump. Anyway it's sad they got 2 runs and never got wood on the ball.

A stole is basically an old school scarf that was worn by religious leaders. Stoled means you wore one of them. It has nothing to do with stealing something.

Well, it looks like we're not as good as we think whenever we upset a good team. Sorry, but this series is officially an embarrassment. It's OK, though, as we old timers have gotten used to late season implosions.

This one is frustrating. Last we could have one that one but this one is a different story. I am not saying were aren't a good team but we don't have that go to guy like we did last year. ie Matt Williams or D. Bream. Not making excuses but it has been a long week starting in SC, GA * to NC twice. Puts a lot of pressure on us with some of the better BSC teams coming up.

As frustrating as this is, one weekend does now a season make (or break). Today was the battle of the aces and they squeezed enough out of the lemon to make something happen today. Is Niggli all of a sudden a bad pitcher because of today? I certainly dont think so. Do I think this team sucks because of today? Not really...we have one more today and then a big series in our house next weekend that I think will put us back in the discussion if we can get a series win. Frustrating to lose today but we get back on the horse, get one tomorrow and get some good vibes going into practice for the Chants.

Turn out the lights, the parties over!!!! Laughing so hard I can hardly type this message. ha ha!!! That old saying comes to mind..."Doesn't do any good to beat the best and lose to all the rest."
For all you guys that think Toman is great; you better wake up; because there are a lot more losses coming. He doesn't have a clue!! Liberty(31-12 9-5) UNCA(19-21 8-9) Two more losses to another team with a losing record.
Now you see why he should not have used Niggli against UNC; we had other pitchers that could have gotten it done, and Niggli was shaky in that game. You don't mess with the weekend starters; as they are superstitious and like to keep their daily routines. Liberty needed to win this series; but more than likely will lose all three. Way to many strikeouts today; how many does one player get before you realize this guy doesn't have it today and make a change. He's clueless.
I think the players need to choke the coach(A little role reversal since that was kept all hush hush), because he is killing this team.

Unless you want to be real fan, quit sucking your thumb and hiding behind a tree. Where the #$%^ were you when we beat UNC? Oh that's right, you didn't care, you were just hoping we could lose another game so we can complain and whine. When this team ends its season this year, I'll be standing and clapping for another year of good baseball. And you'll be behind the tree pouting and whining like you always do.

You're attacking Niggli and the pitching staff? Who gave up a whopping 2 runs today? Who really cares who's superstitious, you can't even go after the hitting, the real reason we lost!

Your analysis of baseball sucks. You, sir, know nothing.

That, and your analysis of baseball sucks. You, sir, know nothing.

I will never, ever be a fan of Toman....I hated him at State, USC and now Liberty. And you need to re-read my last post about that old saying.
Forgot one last thing. Toman at Liberty during regular season against UNCA that most always finishes near or at the bottom of the conference...8 - 6. Not to good.

And I'm not a fan of Toman either, but your attitude is absolutely ridiculous and stupid. No matter who coaches this team, I will support this team.

I was not attaching Niggli; as he did his job. But he was 7-0 pitching on Friday nights. As for the hitting; if you think 11 strikeouts is ok, you are as clueless as Toman. I have forgotten more about baseball sonny, than you will ever know.

Stoled as a verb is only used in Morgantown (and certain parts of backwoods Kentucky). :nono

Its hard to be taken seriously for whatever baseball acumen you may have Trott when you do very little to actually contribute from a baseball standpoint and the few posts you do make are only after losses and clouded by your personal bitterness toward the coach

Sooooo you're on this board, not because you're a Liberty fan, but because you follow Toman around? That is a few clicks past pathetic. One might even have to create a word. It's pretty trottalot.

lol. I don't even know why I read the baseball forum. I don't doubt this. This sport needs to be overhauled.

If you've followed the baseball program in recent years, you would have known these two results were a very really possibility. We were 3-3 at UNCA under Toman. Two years ago we went 1-2 there. We don't play well up there for whatever reason.

Asheville has been a thorn in our side quite a bit...some of the members from the Firehouse (might even have been the early days of FlameFans) days may remember a particularly infamous game in 2006 involving us and the Bulldogs in the Big South tournament
