Wow, as uninspiring as our baserunning was, Clowers 5 innings of shutout and i believe no-hit ball was equally as impressive. He may be a candidate for a mid week starting role after today. It's still a solid weekend taking the series. However, we are going to have to be smarter on the basepaths and diving for balls in the OF if we are going to win either game against JMU or UVA.

As far as the big picture goes. I'd like to see more of Alex Close at 1b, Cordell is just a groundout machine right now. I know he has potential but he's beating everything in the ground. Close has had some big hits in limited time. Getting Grauer back will be huge, and it will expand the depth of the lineup. Encourgaing to see guys like Clowers, Dudley, Forslund, Lyons all stepping up.

Hard not to notice Eckelbarger's start to the season as well. Kemmerer has been solid and appears set for a start against UVA or JMU.

Also, 7 of 10 hits from the 6-9 hitters, including 3-3 and 2 RBI's from #9 hitter, Haley. Too many LOB though, 12 for the game.

Of course, if you read through my thoughts i think it highlights a lot more positives than negatives. There's a lot to like about the potential of this team. JMU is actually getting housed by Bucknell today and they have now been swept this weekend, 2 and 5 now.

Good teams find ways to win games when there not at there best, i think that summarizes today pretty well.

Huge games this week, clowers and lambert really saved the arms for these mid week games.

Figured...as someone who for some reason is physically incapable of being negative the vast majority of the time, I was reading that and like "I know there is something positive in those comments..."

jinxy wrote:Did toman really just try to squeeze with bases juiced and 1 out with your number 3 hitter at the plate. Man another big mistake, just like the runner falling down around 2nd yesterday killing the rally in the 9th. I had hoped we were beyond teh questionable decisions. Yesterday really wasn't Toman's fault (other than putting Bankemper out there yet again). Just not sure about squeezing with your 3 hole hitter at the plate with a sac fly opportunity, maybe it wasn't a squeeze but it sure sounded like it on radio.

We really need Grauer back,

Now Cox with a bad baserunning error that erases another runner. We have done some idiotic things on the basepaths the last two days.
JB's fault.

No, he started with the Asa thing but who know if he just uses multiple profiles. He probably does.

I am here with no split personality. Solid start for baseball...but have we played any competition and please don't act like I started the Asa thing...there is widespread disappointment and outrage over how that was handled in our AD's administration.

Facts are easy to deal with. Manipulated politics create an interesting web. What the true life long Liberty fans are waiting for is to see the success match the verb-age of JB administration, instead of just defining a standard of success based on performance inside the JB bubble. We need to measure our performance based on programs of comparative budgets and facilities in NCAA Division I. Let alone if the program's performance has even improved since the $$$ jumped to unseen numbers under previous AD/coaches.

This weekend was an ok series as they dropped one game out of 4, yet to an ok team. There were plenty of mistakes and not a lot of offense to back it up as many games were close. Getting Grauer back in the line up will definitely help produce more of an offensive approach to things, as well as catching, although from what I have seen Wimmer has been doing a great job behind the plate as well. Cordell seems to be having some problems finding his stroke at the plate lately, not that he doesn't have the talent, just cant seem to produce right now. Is Sizemore still hurt or something from the summer injury, haven't seen much action from him although his stats are not bad from when he has played this season? Curious about what is going on there. Pitching staff seems to be doing a fine job so far from the few games that I have seen and caught on the internet, with Niggli performing well as always and great starts from Eckelberger to top it off. Looks to be a good year so far and hope that they can continue to do well as they head up to UVA and JMU this week!
