The All-SEC affair, the first championship pairing teams from the same conference, drew a 14.0 rating on ESPN. The lowest ratings were a 13.7 for USC-Oklahoma in 2005 and a 13.8 for Miami-Nebraska.

Who cares if it was the lowest rated? If there was a playoff and it turned out to be LSU / ALABAMA, do you think the ratings would have been higher?

I do because most would feel like the two teams earned their way to the game instead of the BCS giving Bama a mulligan on the regular season game.

Not to mention the increase of ratings on the play in game. Who gets better ratings LSU-OkieState or WVU-Clem? By adding a playoff or at least a play in game, we get to see the best teams play more.

I don't buy it. People are sick of the SEC winning. Plain & simple jealousy. Those who are in favor of a playoff system can't complain about a "rematch" or a "mulligan" unless they only want conference champions in the playoff.

BAMA has shown itself to be one of the elite teams all season, but after the loss to LSU I believed that OKST deserved a shot... until they lost to IOWA STATE!

There is another issue at play here. Some people like high scoring games where "Defense" is what you put around "D -Yard." I don't know if OKST's offense would have done a better job than LSU (LSU was not too shabby), but I can tell you that their Defense would not have done a better job than LSU. It would have been a blowout for BAMA.

I have ZERO issue with the SEC. To say they don't play great football there would be asinine.

Bama was a great team this year, no doubt. But, so was OKST...Stanford was good....Oregon was a better team at the end of the season than the beginning. The fact is that no one will KNOW what could have happened with a +1 or playoff system. No one KNOWS that Bama would have destroyed OKST. No one KNOWS that OKST would have kept that game close. No one KNOWS what Oregon could have done against Bama.

The system in place now isn't about who you beat, it's about who you lose to & how late in the season it happens.

don't forget how highly you were ranked BEFORE any games were even played. That's the worst.
