Colin Cowherd listener?

On another note. We've destroyed Coastal the past two times they've been here. We should destroy them this time but late interception makes it closer than it looked. LU 34 Coastal 28

Attendance: 19,500. It's homecoming and LU hasn't had a big home game since JMU which was a thriller even though we lost. Place will be packed.

I already have. Go look for it and stop crying at me.

Someone else predicted a CCU win. Cry at them, maybe they wanna hear it.

This isn't a good team. Hillary is gonna carve us up. Injuries and lack of depth are going to kill us.

And stop complaining about how negative I am if you're going to keep calling me out, BJ. You bring it upon yourself.

Well somebody has to be your emotional foil you know...

You said last week that G-W was going to be our WTF game...and we jumped out to a 14-0 lead en route to a 35-3 victory (I will say that I also was thinking itd be a much closer game so even I was surprised at the final score). Hillary compiled his passing stats against teams rated #50 (Furman), #76 VMI, and #19 (NC A&T) while Liberty comes in with the #9 rated defense against the pass in the country (even despite Chris Lum throwing for 300 against us...course the way he's playing this year we could be seeing him on Sundays next year) and Coastal has the #57 passing offense in the country.

No crying. Look at the history. We've killed any BS team, including Coastal. Just trying to figure where you got the numbers because there is NOTHING backing it up at the top.

Wasn't it our own BJ who stated that we were 7-35 against ranked opponents. 0-2 this year. 0-1 @ home. Gotta love stats. They can be used to make just about any point you want!

CCU is 3-0 against FCS. We're 2-2.

We haven't won big games against good teams. They beat a decent Furman team, we've beat no one.

They're do-it-all QB is better than ours so far this year. He completes a ton of passes and our defense is the same it's always been. He doesn't turn it over like Mike does.

Saying we "kill Big South teams" is lumping CCU in with CSU, GWU, Presby, and VMI. That's just not far, and poor analysis of "trends and stats".

And if the past few years count as good stats, then how about this... We DON'T make it through the conference season unscathed. That's the trend. That's history. Mike Brown led offenses and Vince Redd free defenses don't win the Big South outright. This year will be no exception. I wouldn't be surprised if we go 4-2.

I guess beating a bad RMU and a bad DII is enough to rah rah.

I do want to win, I really do. But the mentality of "We've beat Big South teams by this score" when we're struggling this year (and our COACH said we're not a good team this year) has gotten to me. It really has. I'm sick of hearing how good the teams we lose to are. I'm sick of hearing how bad the Big South is when we haven't won it outright in 3 years.

If we make adjustments, we can win. But the way this team plays the pass, and the way we can't take care of the ball against a good defense. If Mike stares down a WR, CCU will take it. G-W didn't have the athletes at DB to punish him for threading it into 2-3 coverage.

I see no changes from the teams that haven't won the Big South outright for 2 years now. I see a defense that plays too soft in the back, and an offense that doesn't punch the ball in (and now has issues at kicker), and turns it over too much.

So have fun cheering and thinking "Man I bet TTL hates this."

I hate losing, and I hear a coach saying "We don't have a good football team right now." I'm concerned. Looking at the injury report, I'm concerned. In my mind, there's a lot more negatives going into this game than positives.

Ive said this twice already...this creates the kind of scenario where one of two Liberty teams shows up...if the Liberty team that summarily curbstomps Big South teams at Williams Stadium shows up, then it wont matter what CCU's ranking is...because they are gonna get pounded much as they did before. If the team that cant get over the "hump" that is struggling against ranked teams shows up, then the game could go CCU's way.

So this CCU team is just another Big South team coming to the Bill. It's just another CSU or GW?

In the long post you quoted from Lang, it even says the closest a Big South opponent has come to beating us at home was...

wait for it...

COASTAL.

You're not even using your own stats well.

FYI, Lang has us by 21 points so is he a blind homer?
#360785
And yet we still won by 13 that day and it wouldnt have even been that close save two 4th quarter TDs (including a very pretty ball to Jerome Simpson).
#360786
I respect Lang a lot. I have also predicted that if we don't turn it over we'll win by a couple scores. But I just see more negatives than positives.

Sorry, here ya go.

Liberty- 71 (Even Sparky and Des Rice score!)
Coastal - -2 (They'll lose points because Norman is a big meanie head!)

Att- 29121

Do I get my FlameFans merit badge?

So do you have a response WITHOUT excuses?

Just like if you look into the "we always curbstomp Big South teams" you'll see that that's true... but Coastal always plays us pretty tough. We had the dominant win in '09, they had a fairly easy win in '10, and then the rest have been slugfests.

And the last time we played them, they BEAT US.

And how are they unproven? They made the playoffs twice, we never have. They've beaten EVERYONE that they're supposed to this year. No matter if you look at history or present, they're not unproven. CDB is a championship coach.

Because they are horrible on the road against good teams. They also lost to Towson on the road last year. Richmond beat CCU 41-19 in Richmond last year. CCU also went into overtime at Gardner Webb. They play horrible on the road. I don't even care if they are the better team, they can't play on the road.

07 we were up 37-10 in the 4th quarter when they scored twice...the last one coming with just under 2 minutes to go and the game pretty much decided. 08 we were up by double digits much of the game, until CCU scored a late TD to cut it to 5 and Rashad downed himself inside the 5 on what would have been his second rushing TD of the game (and 4th overall).

PS: Towson won only one game last year...against Coastal. Coastal does not play well on the road and we don't either. However, we play excellent at home. LU at home > Coastal on the road...every day.

At least cjsweat is trying. He brings up a good point. However, CCU did beat NCAT on the road this year, NCAT beat Bethune Cookman (playoff team) on that same field. So they've at least got that monkey off their back. New QB, new confidence after winning the league last year, so we'll see.
