If the Cavs got Chris Bosh or Elton Brand, I'd admit it.

Shaq... not so much. I think they'll be a good team... but I'm not sure how much "better" it's going to make them.

Williams
West
LeBron
Varejao
Shaq

Still have a 2 guard that's too small, and a 4 that's too slow. Shaq is an upgrade over Big Z, but I don't know if the difference between them is enough to say they're over the top and going to win 70 and win the title.

They will be trying to get a long, athletic wing who will be a better matchup defensively aganst Turkoglu and/or Lewis.

Brand?? Im a Sixers fan, the guy has missed the better part of the last 2 seasons. You can't of all people be convinced a guy who has played a grand total of 37 games in 2 years and may never return to his former form gets anyone over the top.

Both Shaq and Z are getting old....splitting time over the seasons saves them both come time for the playoffs.

I was just giving an example of the type of guys that would be a difference maker. Maybe not the current Elton Brand, but that kind of player...

I still don't see what it gains them. Z looked just fine in the playoffs, including the game where he went like 8-8 from the floor against the Magic.

Shaq is a one year rental basically. It gains them getting rid of Ben wallace ( who wants to retire cause he blows) and another role player who didn't have any impact in my mind in the playoffs. Plus they obviously feel the only problem them have in getting to the finals is the magic in the playoffs so Shaq gives them a different look to show Howard.

Hi, I'm the Salary Cap, and I have something to say about that.

Who are they going to get that they can afford with the TON of money they're already spending?

I know he's just a one year rental, gives them an expiring contract for the summer of 2010 so they can try and get LeBron back or sign someone to replace him if he bolts. And Sasha did have one good game against the Magic... and has had big playoff games in the past. But I get what you're saying. They got Shaq for nothing, which is impressive, but I don't think adding shaq into the rotation is "yay. Maybe LBJ can get a title now...."-FFG.

We'll see.

THIS is what I don't get about this trade. Or about ESPN. I think the Spurs, Magic, Celtics, Nuggets, and probably a couple of other teams have a LEGIT chance at a title. But right now, it's Lakers (with Phil? They're the favorite. Without him? Eh...) or Cavs. or "other"...

I don't know where they stand on the cap, but the name I heard was Matt Barnes.

The Cavs have some loaded Chinese investor now. The salary cap will be about as meaningless to them as the luxury tax or whatever it is called in the MLB is to the Yankees and Red Sox.

They should have gone after Pietrus last year...he was the perfect fit for them.

Polls on ESPN are emotional. Give it a day - the Bobcats will announce Jordan's coming back and presto - Bobcats "Favorite to win title".

The Cavs got a lot better today!! And don't worry Shaq has some play left in him and this is a perfect situation for him - 1/2 court offense and not that run and gun.
