I'm not sure what to make of that tweet. I hesitate to read too much into the wording. But my first reaction is that football & non-football schools may no tbe on the same page. That is bad news if true.

I'm thinking the same thing too, Sly. Idaho and New Mexico St have to emphasize that going independent is not an option for them. Also, they have to convince the bball schools that they are truly on board with the WAC. I can understand Seattle and Denver's viewpoint. Why invite a rack of eastern schools when the football playing members are trying to bail out?

It's time for the WAC to man up. Football drives the bus these days, not basketball.

Just realistic. I can name more conferences who didn't invite us then did. Considering the WAC-E is our last best chance if the basketball schools get their way we are SOL.

Did my post say anything about giving up? Did I say anything about the sky falling? Glad to see you aren't afraid to just jump to conclusions but actually take time to read through a post. And for the love of all that is holy, at least don't ever let facts get in the way. What about my statement was untrue? What about my statement was calling for surrender?

I found this old post about a couple of months ago. I'm wondering if this was the meeting of FCS schools that Benson was referring to?

Well, from what I've been told, representatives of all of these schools met together less than two weeks ago to discuss the possibility of forming a new FBS conference. The meeting was called by firms that have been hired by Jax State (Johnny Williams & Associates) and Liberty (Bill Carr & Associates).

...Apparently the complexities and challenges of starting a new FBS conference (no auto bids in any sports for 5-7 years, no NCAA basketball tourney revenue, etc.) were more than some schools had anticipated.

Haize is right. I realize we're all homers but some of you are taking it to a whole new level.

Relax. Be patient. When the time comes, when the opportunity comes, we'll be ready for the move. We know JB and JLF are doing the best they can do for us. We're in good hands.

jbock is right (and I dont say that often). Just because they arent posting continuous twitter updates from the WAC meetings doesnt mean that things arent happening. Jerry Jr said that we are capable of making a decision within 48 hours so, its not gonna take much to get the ball rolling. To go along with Tally (Im gonna PM you about an idea I had btw), there is a reason why they are in the position they are in, and the rest of us (in particular like Purple as was noted above) are just sitting around at our keyboards thinking we are some major influence on the university decision making process

It shows that 1 we are doing what we can and secondly the basketball powers that be in the WAC have a big influence.
So if the WAC falls through what is left for us? Every other possibility has been played out and shut down. MAC? Nope. Sunbelt? Nope. SEC? Nope Big East? Nope. C-USA? Nope. Tally is right. Everyone goes chicken little just because we have not heard anything the same day the meetings were held. There are a lot of things yet to happen, so everyone just needs to relax. I also do not believe the MAC, Sun Belt, CUSA, etc. are done. There is still realignment to happen, our time will come, maybe not right away but for crying out loud, some of you are acting like we are untouchables because we didn't hear anything last night. Patience...

I'm sure eventually we will get to FBS because the landscape is different then it was 2 or 3 years ago. In the mean time I'd really like us to be successful where we are at. IMO this is not a radically pessimistic view. The fact that I don't think we are on the ACC, Big East SEC level and that conferences are not beating down our door to join apparently makes me Chicken Little. Obviously by people who have never met me!

About the only person twittering about the WAC is Jeff Caves of the Ticket radio in Boise. I asked him today if he had any news from the meetings and got this reply:

we are on it and coming up empty so far Idaho said no comment today
