Just about the exact reason Jason Conley gave VMI 7 years ago when he bolted, and it was proven that Quin Snyder at Missouri was speaking w/momma Conley two months before he publically made his choice, and transfered to Missouri, where he helped them to home losses to Lipscomb Univ., and two or three other teams w/RPI's above 180.

I've been thinking about Conley all day. Talk about getting lost in a bigger pond.

The term "used" was brought up earlier. well i'm saying it. Seth Used us.

I look at it more as a blessing. We have dodged a bullet here. Now don't get me wrong, I think Seth is a great player. But the bullet we have dodged is having another LB here. And LB in all rights was a great player as well, but they are both selfish.

So I look at this as a way for us to have more of a team mentality. Hopefully there will be less selfishness on next year's team.

LB brought us a championship.

No Tourney title..
No 1st Team All- Conference (No, he didn't deserve it either!)
No REAL trips to post-season play.. (Not that he showed up in the post season)

The conference is the same conference he knew about from DAY 1- his prepared statement is a crock- I'm sorry Flame fans but you've been treated like toilet tissue.. Used & flushed...

and at the time, Conley's SoCon "competition" was Kevin Martin at WCU, who stayed, and is still drawing an NBA paycheck (with Sacramento?). If you are good enough, the NBA will find you.......

It was a nice thing for him to put his reasons in writing and for him to be positive about the staff and his time at LU. This will/should eliminate a lot of second-guessing by the haters, but you never can be sure. It does appear to be handled better than previous departures.

you know..... you are right. maybe we are better off. i was actually thinking about a Larry blair comparison but i thought the board might blow up or somthing if i compared baby jesus to LB as far as selfishness. but oh well. its over now.

Have fun at your ACC school seth. Have fun being a third or forth option. Have fun possibly coming off the bench. Have fun seeing your point totals drop from 20 points a game to 10 points a game or less. Oh and have fun trying to make the NBA as a short shooting guard who averages less than 10 points a game. Because if you transfer to an ACC school, that is exactly what will happen to you.

Seth, you are amazing here. This is your team. If you go to an ACC school, it will NOT be your team. You will have trouble getting looks. You will struggle to score more than 10 points a game on average. You will have even more trouble making the NBA as the third option on a lower tier ACC school. So have fun with your future of mediocrity in a higher level of play...

Playing against better competition in games will make him a better player, playing against more talented teams every day in practice will make him a better player. If you want to make yourself as good of a player as you can possibly be, given the talent he has, that isn't going to be happening in the BS. The fact of the matter is, players with potential from major conferences have a drastically better shot of getting drafted than 99.9% of BS players...

Ed answered your question, ALA. I don't take any offense to the premise, either. But like Ed said, whoever posted the information created a username and is very close to Seth, I would assume. My blog was silent because I was over at the basketball offices trying to get confirmation.

I really think this team will be fine. It could have been a special 3 years with what we were assembling. But we'll be fine and in the mix. Lucky for us.

Man, I just can't believe after reading every single story (and there were tons of them) about the recruiting process that it would come to this. Nothing has changed over the past year except Seth's exposure, due mostly to his brother.

Exactly I'm proud of our Big south brethren not rejoicing in our loss but defending us. you guys are a class act. i know seth insulted you guys too by making the statement that he did. thanks guys

I agree. We all know that it's gonna be tough without Seth, but I am sure of one thing: God always has a plan, and if it includes losing our beloved Seth, then let it happen.

I think he was frustrated by the constant schemes to stop him and felt like if he was playing in a conference that starts with an ‘A’ and ends with a ‘C,‘ that one of those schools would have some other guys around him that he wouldn’t bear such a brunt of the scoring load. Phenom is the one i'm talking about. The reason everyone else hasn't discounted it is because It very well may be up tonight on the website. but you know and i know that none of that can be made public by us. so all i'm going to say is that phenom has no idea what he's talking about and is just jerking everyone's chain.

Why can't someone make that public? This is more of a 'curiousity' question, do our FFers in-the-know have a confidentiality agreement?

There is something to be said about spreading rumors on here though. Some things are ok to be said, others aren't. There's a fine line about what should be said publicly and what should be kept private. I'm not saying this crosses that line, but there is a line. This message board is completely, 100% to blame when it comes to how the information of our former basketball coach being released got out. It was posted on here and the athletic department had to scramble to tell the players and staff and everything because they didn't want them to find out on a message board.

This website is great. It's something that I truly believe helps our programs in terms of fan support and the knowledge of our fans. There are times when the line can be crossed though. We've been saying for months that we don't need to speculate on players leaving until there is hard proof or evidence that they will. That was the case with Brolin. That's the case with every other player. Just because Seth is the star player doesn't mean our self-imposed rules shouldn't apply for him as well.

I had thought that Seth was moving past the offers and staying with Mckay. I'm sorry to hear that it's not the case, and he's moving on.

I know it was very frustrating for him with the double and triple teams. He won't have to be concerned with that playing on a better team.

As far as LU goes, I guess we'll have to see what Perez, Minaya, ect. bring to the table. Also, we'll have to wait another year to reload recruiting-wise. Hopefully, nothing changes with JC Sanders committment.

Just because you are transferring doesn't mean you know where you are going next. If you are Seth Curry, you won't have any trouble finding somewhere else to go because you're freaking Seth Curry, the offers will come aplenty...
