I can not wait until this thread is real, meaning we're actively searching for a new coach. I hope it's this offseason. I cant take much more of Turner and Co.

We were meant to lose this game so it’s not Gill’s and staffs fault. We just need better players and then we will have meaningful winning seasons and succeed. Gill is a great guy and played great football in his younger days. We will be okay because we won 4 games in our inaugural season! A lot of people said we’d only win 2-3, so this is a major success! No worries and don’t drink too much of the haterade :D

JSU coach is 38-1 in conference games and is a perennial top 10 in FCS. Yes, he picked up some SEC players who were scarred by personal issues but while at JSU they understood there was a zero tolerance policy for anymore of their crap. IF we move on from Gill all I am saying is the JSU coach may be a solid pick-up for us. He is a believer and runs a clean program for JSU and already has connections to SEC schools for potential transfers. Not to mention he has recruited very well at JSU!

Transfers are a GREAT way to run an FCS program. Lot more difficult to do at the FBS level

You heard it here first. :)
I was reminded earlier today that a Coach in the Big XII who is making considerably more than HCTG was “encouraged” to give up play calling duties this year. So having Administrations “encourage” a coach to make a Staff Change is not unheard of. Be it addition or subtraction

Update: Colgate won today and Paul Shaffner’s defense gave up 6 points. They’ve given up a total of 29 points all season. This guy should be the first person HCTG calls for DC.

Guy at Colgate sounds great as does the JSU guy. The one small detail is the Jesus thing. Sometimes I think that there are people posting who don't care, as if football and our fake endowment are the top priority.

Now the nuance. I for one am all for our endowment is top priority.
However, all fire and brimstone is not the best indicator of faith.
A quiet man can practice in actions as loud as another can in words.
I know nothing about JSU but having grace to allow for redemption is a great quality.
There are people in my church whose actions speak much louder than the words preached at any service.
ButI am not the head drill in this picture so my opinion is most likely to wash away quickly.

John Grass goes to First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, AL. My cousins son is best friends with his son and I have heard nothing but good things about John Grass's faith and love for Jesus. I do not know the man personally but all that I hear sounds promising.

Well the “Colgate guy’s” moto is Faith-Family-Football so I think he would fit the bill.

The elephant in the room recently has not been the performance of the OL, OC, WR, and (for now) the RB’s. The PROBLEM is the overall performance of the defense and the decision making of the flames HC Tuner Gill, and his defensive coordinator Robert Wimberly. If the AD and Jr. are too cheap to cut bait due to the rationale that they can’t see Gill and some staff members being released (like Kanas) and remain on the payroll. Maybe they should consider the Bobby Bowden pill.

No, I don’t mean hiring old the geezer, but like FSU have a coach in waiting to take the reins when Gill is forced out / kicked out / jettisoned / dumped…you get the picture. A person like Bud Foster can be hired as the defensive coordinator and coach in waiting with the opportunity to finally be the HC of an FBS team. Gill can be the emeritus of the football team, with the end game of him riding into the sunset screaming “to God be the glory,” while Bud is here making our defense and our overall team a force to be reckoned with in the FBS.

First off Bud Foster isn't coming here.
Second, you are saying we hire a guy 3 years older than Turner Gill to be the coach in waiting so Gill can ride off into the sunset?

Next coach will be someone who has been successful at a Power 5 school, I believe.
(probably SEC school)

I can't see LU gambling on a coach who has never been a Head Coach before.

You weren't paying attention I said someone like Bud Foster...meaning a defensive mined coach. It could be Manny Diaz or any FBS coach that knows how to coach and motivate his team on a FBS level. The bottom line is that there needs to be a change.

That formula rarely works out well. It makes that year or so an absolute nightmare. Exhibit A West Virginia. Exhibit B Syracuse Basketball. The list goes on and on

Just to pitch a semi, not crazy school that the storyline hire makes sense. Turner Gill to North Texas. Seth Littrell will get hired somewhere(coughlouisvillecough) and they will want a "proven" FBS coach that fits them and their identity.

Proven meaning Bowl success at Buffalo, the tied for best record in a decade at Kansas, and hopefully a 6-6 record with a transitional Liberty team.

When reading on the Louisville firing, I read that in Clemson game or game this past Saturday, the Louisville AD "listened" in on the defensive huddles on sideline in first half, and visited locker room at halftime.

Backtrack all you want but sounded like you wanted the person "like" Bud Foster to be Bud Foster. Your words in bold above not mine. I agree on us needing a change but not a transitional change like you propose. We need a house cleaning.
